It's unlikely but I wonder if Section 31 will be revealed to have connections to the Khitomer conspiracy from Star Trek 6.

Direct to Streaming movies are like junk food.

You can never truly appreciate them, knowing that the idea didn’t convince enough people to bring it to the big screen. They are the contemporary counterparts to all the direct to DVD feature films, which also got produced to squeeze out the last drops out of outdated franchises.

We already know that S31 will be a mediocre spin-off of a already cancelled tv show…

Thanks for that ray of sunshine.

Amongst the tsunami of direct to video/DVD garbage sequels back in the day, there was a handful of legit good movies. Ones that maybe weren't as good as the theatrically released first film of their franchise, but well worth a watch on their own merits.

Yes, extremely likely. I'd absolutely love to be proven wrong though. At this point I'd happily welcome mediocre. :D

So you are looking forward to a Star Trek movie which will be most likely just another lackluster rehash of a worn out concept? You are also looking forward to that harsh reality of a Star Trek franchise which is just not „good enough“ to be rewarded with the necessary funding?

When did we stop having actual expectations towards storytelling and artistic execution? I must remind you that movies are still considered to be a form of art and art should always be measured by its ability to grow beyond its own borders of imagination…

Why do you care so much about what we think? If you don’t like it, fine. Don’t watch it. I’m not expecting the Section 31 movie to be all that great either, but I don’t feel the need to broadcast that opinion with every post I make.

Just an observation, but it's funny that the biggest nuTrek haters here are also people that never post anything positive in threads about the older shows.

I mean aside from me that is. I'm the biggest Section 31 hater of all! It's killing me inside that I have to admit Garrett's phaser actually looks really good.

Why would i post about 20-50 year old tv shows? There just isn’t much more to say. Naturally i am more interested in new content and the overall direction the franchise will take.

The problem at hand is that the responsible executives had more than enough time to pan out one truly great anf modern Trek show. NuTrek ranges from awful (Disco) over ridiculous (Lower Decks) to almost bearable (SNW) and slightly entertaining (Picard).

That’s just not good enough for contemporary tv and it sucks that Trek keeps falling behind all the good content, tv and streaming was able to provide within the last 20 years.

I don't know if the movie will be good or bad. What about the necessary funding? While the first trailer gives the impression of a low-budget TV movie, the second trailer looks like a high-budget, visual effects-heavy job compared to the old-style TV movies that were broadcast on TV with a budget of at least $50-65 million. You may not like the current Star Trek TV series. But you don't have to come here and talk nonsense. If you don't like the new Star Trek works, please go to the pages where old Star Trek TV series are discussed.

I agree with you about discovery. I disagree with you about lower decks. I think it's a great TV series, SNW and Picard are also very good.

Why?

Trek has never been the be all end all of entertainment so that it falls behind doesn't bother me. I enjoy it thoroughly, but I'm not blind to its flaws, of which there are many.

It's pretty self-evident why Star Trek fans want Star Trek to be as good as anything else that's on. We don't enjoy it ironically.

Find something you do enjoy and post about that. At this point, by constantly reminding us you don't like modern Trek you are in fact engaging in the Luve Stupis you claim you wish to stop.
