you are now grading around the curves. I was not.
when I referenced TOS, I used to say by 1960s standard to show the series was not perfect but did come a long way. a character like Christine Chapel is the best example of collateral damage of the 1960s dated writing that sucks and the 2020 girl boss ridiculous writing that also sucks, I can make some few argument of a lot of the legacy characters the show used like Spock, Uhura, Pike but Chapel I think is the best case scenario.
1960s Chapel: Boring, lovelorn crushing, not much of a personality than a cardboard, boyfriend turns out to be a robot which is humiliating, love man that cannot love her back, many times a glorified extra.
2020s Chapel: Girl Boss, shows dominance over a vulcan that should not be possible, gets more focus than the actual captain of the ship who is meant to be the main character, knows more archeology than her fiance who is the professional, does more medicine than doctors, does combat fight scenes even more than the first officer (Una) who is sort of also superhuman.
Both of these characterizations are equally bad and does not nothing to help the character be on a list of some of the best female characters of all time as say, Buffy Summers.
