Season 1 Blu-ray but no UHD :(

Amazon UK links showing 15th May release. It's probably the same as the US discs but perhaps it will be a proper multilingual European release.

Any news for when this will be released for purchase via digital download (like iTunes). And if such release will be in 4k?

I find it odd that news of digital downloads is very scarce compared to subscription streaming and even physical media.

For me its the best of both worlds. It provides me the same convenience of streaming *And* it addresses the issue with losing content via changing streaming rights. I own it (virtually at least)

Plus since its delivered digitally, there’s a good chance it my be available at the highest video format.

I dont know where I would be without My Apptv collection. I have dozens of shows and movies (many of them old classics in 4k)( owned digitally and easy to access

Well, you still have no recourse if the content-provider decides they want to change it or remove it from availability. And it's locked by DRM to playback on a more limited selection of devices.

I guess but I have not lost anything in 14 years with iTunes. I guess its possible. I think theres a much better chance losing access with a streamer losing rights then Apple shutting down itunes with no recourse for retaining purchases .

"A flashback scene to 10 years ago when a young Lt. Pike was sent to help Alora, who, thanks to a scientific exchange, has a Starfleet shuttle that’s gotten into some trouble."

Hmm I wonder if they designed a different uniform for him.

edit: It's a bit different.

Just got my SNW S1 Blu-Ray set delivered. The ONLY thing I don't care for is that they stack Discs 2 & 3 on the same spindle in the Blu-Ray case.

Yeah, my Picard season 2 had stacked disk as well. I saw some people report that their Picard season 2 did not have stacked disks. Sounds like a crap shoot.

If you buy the Steelbook version, they probably don't stack the discs. As both versions have the same special features, same deleted scenes, Etc. I don't feel the need to spend the extra money.

My Discovery Season four steelbook didn’t have stacked disks so the SNW is probably like that as well. I just got the standard blu-ray for SNW.

by the way the back of the set says that some episodes made be edited from the network version. I’m not sure what they mean by that exactly.

I suppose if they change a single thing they’re obligated to have that disclaimer. I’ve never noticed it on the other discs, but I haven’t looked.

It’s a European release. They often get 4k releases we don’t (same for Blu-ray), and vice versa. Unlike Blu-ray or DVD, UHD/4K discs are not region-locked, so pretty safe to order. However, extras and such might not be on UHD disc and could be region locked, so worth double checking. I have multiregion players as I’ve bought many discs from Europe, but I have friends who have been “burned” by region locks on occasion.

Wouldn't be surprising if the steelbook edition was sold out and a normal, non-steelbook edition replaces it. My pre-order currently says it'll arrive May 18th.
Steelbooks tends to sell out fast, mostly because of scalpers who resell them on eBay for inflated prices.

I’m glad I preordered it.

I hope it sells out, but... gee, Paramount... let's not wait too long on a non-limited version, eh?
