Season 1 Blu-ray but no UHD :(

Hopefully this will inspire them to release Picard season 3 on UHD since it was filmed in 4k. I think the last season of Discovery was too.

Is this confirmed? It's only streaming in HD.

They should still do a UHD release even if they have to upscale from 2k, if only for the HDR. It would really make the space scenes pop.

HDR does not require 4K. It’s rarely used without it, though.
Is there any benefit to putting Lower Decks on UHD?
Almost any animation benefits from the highest resolution available for consumer use. It’s one of the reasons animated films are often used to demo TVs.

I know, because sadly HDR wasn't part of the standard Blu-ray spec, so it would need a UHD disc.

A lot of films are only finished in 2K so many UHD "4K" discs are upscaled to some extent.

My 4K is out for delivery. And coming along with it is the Picard S3 soundtrack on record.
Edit: It's here!

I need to get a 4k player. I have the TV lol
I use my X-Box One as a Blu-Ray player (and Disney+), but that was a Pre-4k model.

I got one recently from Wal-Mart that was about $100, it's probably the cheapest option right now. It was an older player, but supports HDR10. You'll need a HDMI cable that can handle 4K too, but they can be found pretty cheap on Amazon or similar sites.

I'm watching the discs now, it looks great.

Up to “The Eylsian Kingdom” in the 4K version and wow, the show looks incredible! So much better than on streaming. I hope the sales have been good enough to ensure future seasons get the same 4K treatment.
