Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

I'm really not a fan of censorship and editing. Maybe it was all of the changes I have experienced with the original trilogy Star Wars films that put me off.

But I did recently learn that there were changes between 1964 and 1973 made to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I now really want to read the original version.
For one thing, in the original novel, the Oompa-Loompas are a transplanted tribe of African Pygmies.

I'm totally against censorship or so-called "sensitivity" revisions of children's books or anything else.

I definitely prefer when they leave it the way it is, but put up a warning that explains the context. I do think we need to acknowledge that these things are problematic, but I don't like just erasing them.
Furthermore, the movie you mentioned originated as a short film on YouTube—a project that built a unique universe and lore based on those shorts.
Technically it started as a creepypasta, which then inspired the webseries.

I learned on Reddit that Disney spent $95 million on the latest *Descendants* movie aired on Disney Channel, whereas the budget for the previous film was $80 million. With the launch of Disney+ over the past seven or eight years, the budgets for Disney Channel movies have increased fivefold. Factors contributing to this rise include casting popular figures with no direct ties to the channel—such as Rita Ora—alongside existing Disney Channel stars; paying millions of dollars to former stars like the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato to reprise roles (as seen in film like *Camp Rock 3*); and utilizing extensive CGI technology in addition to constructing massive sets. I find this situation surprising because, particularly when it comes to Disney Channel movies, it represents a tremendous waste of money.

For the first time in my life, thanks to international fan pages dedicated to a Spanish celebrity I truly admire, I saw the cover of an upcoming issue of *Deadline Hollywood* online and learned that this star would be featured on the cover of the publication's American edition. Yet, this celebrity owed their fame solely to a Spanish teen movie franchise that had become a global hit on Prime Video; in fact, they even have a contract stipulating that they appear exclusively in Prime Video productions. This situation demonstrates that, provided one has the right connections in Hollywood, anyone can land a spot in such major magazines.

There is a lot of good foreign content that gets missed because folks are too lazy to read subtitles.

I am looking forward to the next part of Lupin. And it does suck that we never got the last season of the Ministry of Time on Netflix in the US.

I wonder which of these young stars—like Jenna Ortega, Mckenna Grace, and Isabela Merced—we will still be talking about in 20 or 30 years. In particular, I think Jenna Ortega needs to get a better handle on her choice of projects and her personal life.

The worst part is, in my opinion, none of today's young celebrities are as well-known as the movie stars of the 80s and 90s.

Can't say I've heard of any one of them.
These are names who rose to fame through popular modern shows and worked with hit-making directors on major film franchises, yet they fall more into the "B-list" category. They aren't the kind of household names—like Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, or the Fanning sisters—that even people who don't closely follow film or TV would recognize.

Most non-Hollywood content on Netflix and Prime Video has English dubbing. And as far as I know, most Americans watch Amazon and Netflix productions with English dubbing.
