Spoilers Preview images for "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad"

So those that have a problem with the scene what would you have wanted in its place? I'm really curious here.

I'd like them to show a little creativity. I'm sure they could come up with a unique looking drinking game, since we only need a glimpse of it. I'll even give them the flashing lights, but the use of a contemporary song (anything past the 60s) is the height of arrogance. No one should think their taste in music is so good that people will still be listening to it in 200 years.

So it was Star Trek?
Yeah, but more forced this time. The tone is off somehow for me. It's all over the place, with little coherency. Besides Tilly jogging her way to the captain's chair. They nailed that bit.

I really would like to see this show succeed. I love the idea of the lead character being on the outside looking in, not privy to the inner workings. It just doesn't feel like the writers know what they want the show to be when it grows up. If it grows up. And I honestly hope they prove me wrong. I'd love it if they do.

Unless it's Smokey Robinson or Tina Turner. Motown rules!

Tilly is not autistic. A common trait about autistic people is that they have difficulty in initiating and maintaining eye contact. I speak from experience. Tilly can initiate and maintain eye contact. Autistic people can become overwhelmed by social occassions - there is a flood of emotions and sensations in crowds. They get overwhelmed and become exhausted. Again, I speak from experience. The latest video shows Tilly thriving in a crowd, getting it on with her work family.

Actually, Tilly has been steadily socializing Burnham, reaching out to her and also trying to encourage her to open up to others. Burnham is the awkward one, in need of help in that area due to her Vulcan upbringing. An example is the hesitant first handshake with Tyler. It's not because Burnham wants to be rude or distant, it's the fact that Vulcans don't shake hands when they greet each other, coupled with her reticence to have another crew member reject her for being "the first mutineer" once he learns who she is. Luckily Ash doesn't seem to care about that, and later on, she gets a chance to re-introduce herself in a more laid back and confident manner.

Tilly's not autistic, she's just got some occasional anxiety issues which cause her to over-share or act slightly inappropriately sometimes. I have no issues with accepting that Tilly might be more socially confident with alcohol or other substances helping her to chill out and not obsess over how she appears to others.

I agree. In real life i'm quite introverted so it can take me awhile to get going in social situations even with friends. However when I'm drinking I'm a happy drunk and find it very easy to have fun and engage in conversations. I know lots of people who are the same, so tilly appears to be acting pretty normal to me.

Yep, sounds like me, too.
