I don't think we need to worry. Since it's a literary reference, I'd take the meaning of the statement as a whole rather than the 'magic' specifically.

As in if it's fake magic like Ardra's magic from TNG "Devil's Due" fine. Real magic is for Harry Potter and Star Wars.

Star Trek has always been a science-fantasy show, with the occasional jaunt into hard science-fiction.

If Tyler is Voq, he's the biggest hypocrite since Jerry Falwell or Pope Alexander VI (Rodrigo de Borgia). That he seems to enjoy rap makes him exceptionally reprehensible. And how is rap still a thing in the 23rd century anyway? Keith Richards is almost certainly still around to teach people about rock 'n roll.

Compared to the stuffy, formal meet and greets and lame mess hall soiree's with 1950's music that we've been subjected to in previous series, this actually looks like fun. Bonus points for the contemporary music.
