Ruined! Ruined! And yet you haven't even seen it. You sound like Ian Levine and his thoughts on Jodie Whittaker's casting.

I really really really really hope the rumor is true at this point. Not only was I intrigued, but now it seems like the internet will burn if anything happens to people's precious Doctor Who. I will make popcorn on the flames.

Nothing can be nearly as bad as the Hybrid.
I don't know, it turns out the entire season is based on a piece of mythology that is supposedly what motivated the Doctor to leave Gallifrey despite not being previously indicated at all. And this abstract threat of the Hybrid supposedly destroying Gallifrey has the Time Lords more worried than the very tangible and empirical fact that all the spacefaring races actually are trying to eradicate them really makes me wonder what Moffat was thinking when he wrote those episodes.

Most likely he was thinking "well I'm gone at the end of this year, so whoever takes over can deal with the fallout of my fucking with the sandbox" Only he then stayed another year after all...

If we aren't going to get singular stories (with no arc) the a serialised story sounds better than what we got with Moffatt where the arc was shoehorned in wherever it could be.Different writers for the episode would be better hough as it could very easily get same-y very quickly. The fractured Doctors idea is promising but would in my opinion work better with three different Doctors (culminating in to a merge into a 14th Doctor at the end of the series - either a completely new actor or based on popularity through the series) - not sure how the differing time periods would work if not 'trapped on earth' - would the 1968 Doctor travel to the 1968 version of Skaro and the 2068 version travel to a 2068 version of Skaro - where would these Skaros tie into the Skaro time-line we know? - When Hartnell traveled to Skaro from 1963 Earth did he just travel in space or time as well? - Does this mean we will get Ep 1 (1968), Ep 2 (2018), Ep 3 (2068) and repeat to Ep 10 (all three brought together) - or will each 50 minute episode be split between the three time periods. - Lots of potential for the story to not work - not that I believe this as there is meant to be tighter security re: leaks this year - maybe a 'fake' plan to put us off the scent.

Well, I mostly take Series 9 by its individual stories. I only really disliked Face the Raven and hated the Zygon two parter, but liked the rest of the episodes (and genuinely loved Heaven Sent). So, I liked it much better then Season 8 despite the Hybrid being stupid. So, the Hybrid really didn't ruin the season for me, even if, again, it was really stupid.

The Zygon two-parter was the best two-parter of that season, though.

I hate it. While it doesn't have the worst moment in NuWho (that goes to Clara trying to murder the Doctor and only not succeeding because she uses a sleep device that doesn't work on him), I would literally watch any NuWho episode before the Zygon 2 parter. Its the worst NuWho episode in my opinion. No redeeming qualities whatsoever has Clara at the height of her "I'm the worst fucking person every in the entire franchise" period, and for me, it ruined the Zygons. I never want to see them again because that story was so shit. Not surprisingly, the writer of Kill the Moon is basically one of the worst writers to work on NuWho.

The only reason I don't say its the worst Doctor Who story ius because it has the 12th Doctor, which is just enough to put it over The Greatest Show in the Galaxy, which was about as terrible but didn't even have a good Doctor to save any of the scenes (although it had a much better companion, Ace doesn't really do anything to save TGSITG). Series 9 had several good multi part stories, but the Zygon two parter sure as hell wasn't one of them.

The next doctor's first scene will have him or her wearing a shoddy wig made to represent Jodie's blonde hair

Sleep No More was fine. Not amazing, but I consider it a solidly "decent" episode. As opposed to the Zygon two parter, which was a pile of shit written by someone who doesn't deserve to write for the back of a cereal box and ruined an entire alien species permanently in my opinion.

I never got what was so great about the Zygon story. A very heavy-handed Islamophobia allegory capped off with a Moffat monologue which really simplifies what are very complex problems in the real world. And it's another example of Moffat resurrecting dead characters who don't get revisited afterwards anyways.

The sleep-crust monster one isn't by any means great, but it's fine mindless popcorn fare.

I'm always a bit bummed when I feel like a Doctor Who episode doesn't have rewatch value. Then there's episodes like the Zygon two-parter which I definitely felt didn't even have single-watch value. Watching it just made me feel icky, but at least it couldn't get worse than that, right? And then The Return of Doctor Mysterio happened...lol. And then The Pyramid 3-parter! Good god, now that I think about it, hurry up and gimme the three time-locked lady Doctors already!

Doctor Mysterio isn't really a bad episode, but it is unfortunate the only Doctor Who episode of the year has the Doctor in more or less a supporting role while the main thrust of the episode focuses on a guest star.

The Monk trilogy is ass. No other way to put it.

I actually liked Dr. Mysterio. It wasn't any thing great, but it was ok and watchable (unlike the Pyramid trilogy, which was easily the worst story in Series 10 although not as bad as the Zygon two parter in Series 9).

I know I'm in the minority, but I really enjoyed "Extremis," the misleading conceit and all. I understand why a lot of people don't like it, but the issues people have with it don't bother me.

That being said, the rest of the "Pyramid" trilogy is complete rubbish.

I still think, if they were not going to do "new" Doctor Who stuff, they could've done a couple of specials with Paul McGann as the Doctor and make a loose storyline that'd conclude in that year's Christmas Special with Capaldi. If there ever could've been such an opportunity to see more of the Eighth Doctor, this was it.

I had a really hard time with Mysterio because I really didn't like either of the guest characters. I went in thinking it'd be great, but every line written for them was unenjoyable to listen to :(

@Emh, actually I liked Extremis as well and that's what made the rest of the trilogy so extra disappointing. What follows was so bad I personally knock points by association alone.
