Enterprise in NYC, or Discovery in DC? You know, by moving Enterprise to NYC and Discovery to DC, it just gives me an excuse to go back to DC now. :techman:

Just discovered this sexy picture of myself on a friend's Facebook page. It was St. Patrick's Day, and I'm guessing I just took some kind of shot.

I drew this on the train on my way to a math conference on Friday. I can't believe I got paid to travel first class to a math conference and chill with reps from NASA. I fucking love my job.

I was so stressed out before I found this job that I hadn't drawn in about 3 months, this is the first thing I've done since December:

Nice.

two questions. First, I must have missed it but whats the new job? Second, where do you start with a drawing like that?

^New job is in educational publishing. It's a small and progressive but established non-fiction children's publishing house and I wear many hats: I'm doing a lot of editing, some writing, etc. The dullest days involve me listening the the Skeptic's Guide to the Universe podcasts and leveling books all day -- it's pretty sweet!

As for the drawing, I always start with the face, and use ink. Not sketching in pencil first makes my drawings look a little sketchy sometimes as I can't erase, but when I dropped pencils about 6 years ago I found I improved as an artist.

Congratulations on the new job TSQ! I love your drawing as well. I hope my hubby takes a page out of your book and starts to paint/draw again when this transition period we are in is over.

Enjoy the new job!

Wow, terrific b&w artwork TSQ! I'm impressed to say the very least...you're pretty talented! I'd love to see other drawings you've done if you still have and feel like sharing them!
