This one is genuinely well done; your photographer got this one just right. Perhaps it's also that I'm in the mood to appreciate it as I did a blog post about Patrick Nagel earlier today, and the sharp contrasts between your pale skin and features and the dark shadows and dress mean this could almost be a Nagel illustration.
Probably cost the US government about $348 billion in R&D and contractor expenditure so that's quite a bargain.
Still, unlike the Soviet one, it doesn't lose contact with your lapel moments after launching...

3 years later I recreated the scene with the newest addition to our family:
And of course I had to do one of myself.
I'm not entirely happy with the family shot I did since it doesn't match up quite as well to the original as it could. I may give it another go in the next few weeks.
