This is about a month later after the surgery and at home:

ACTUALLY, my voice is very similar to hers (I smoke and drink coffee every five minutes of my day, I know that's not the most attractive info you wanted to hear but I can't sugarcoat it. I am trying to quit though) it sounds like a slightly younger Kate.
Last night I was wearing my costume just for shits and giggles (and also because a guy friend has a hard-on for Janeway) and it was hysterical. My friend was thoroughly creeped out since he always thought I had her voice but it caught him off guard in the uniform when he walked in and I said "At ease before you sprain something."

My thoughts exactly. It's vulgar and well, no respectful, respectable guy would behave in such a way but I take no offense because it'd be silly to do so. He may want to do himself the favour though and edit the comment?

You have to cut it in four parts actually. The front, the back and the sides which are kind of squared. Then you add shoulder pads and it just creates that effect because the material pulls on the other pieces. The entire costume has to be done in pieces to make it look as authentic as possible. The elastic around the waist has to only be on the sides. The zipper on the jumpsuit is on the back of the costume (same with the gray shirt). I thought about going for the jacket (which would have the zipper in the front) but I decided against it. The black portion is in 4 pieces. So are the pants. Also very important, the back:
The black material has to overlap on both sides of the back right under the red material and the overlap goes down to where the elastic begins on both sides. That makes movability a lot better.

I have some terribly done drawings. If a professional seamstress saw these she would probably have a hard time understanding what I meant for some of these since I usually draw super quick. But here you are.

Years ago, I purchased a uniform pattern set for the TNG 3rd season tunic. I've still got it somewhere, with the faded black and white photo of Riker on the cover, from a still from (I think) "The Survivors"). I looked at those patterns once, and recognized at the tender age of 13 that I had NO idea how to sew and promptly filed them away for (possible) future use. Now that I think about it ... I'm rather amazed I kept the damn thing.

Yeah it is. Most of the things I had to do, I didn't really draw because I knew what to do without having to draw it. I just needed to make sure I had the measurements done right, had to remember the zippers, the inside pocket for the combadge magnet and the shapes of the 4 pieces of the red fabric. Stuff like that
