Just got back from Tennessee:

Yep, I'm enjoying it a lot. We both went from having a 46 mile round-trip commute to work to 6 miles. Rent is only $50 more than I was paying my parents for utilities since we now share the cost.

Ice, when I measured to make sure all of our stuff would fit I came up to 360 sq ft not counting the kitchen or the bathroom.

You'll make $50 a month up in gas savings easily then. Way cool.

I guess it looks a little bigger in the pics than it really is then. The pics make it look more like 500 to 600 sq ft.

Ice, with my calculations I'll save even more than that. Before, I was filling up about 3 times a month and spending about $200/mo on gas. Now, even factoring seeing my parents on the weekend will probably only have to fill up once a month. Granted, I drive for work and will fill up still due to that...but that's all reimbursed so it doesn't count. :)

A bedsit? I looked up the definition of that and...well, that's not what our place is at all. We have our own bathroom, for one thing. Unlike a bedsit, we have a dedicated bathroom and kitchen. So...thanks for insinuating that we're poor, but the UK equivalent would be a "studio flat."

Hell, I've lived in a car. Believe me, there's nothing wrong with a bedsit!

It looks quite enormous even for a studio (those come tiny here in the UK). That's a hell of a lot of furniture you seem to have fit in quite comfortably and without clutter. All in all, I think you've done really well for yourselves your first home away from home.

I don't think he was insinuating that at all, he was being facetious ;)

i wasn't being facetious, but nor was i insinuating flux was poor. to me a bedsit means a place where your bedroom, kitchen and sitting room are one and the same. 'studio apartment' just sounds to me like typical estate agent bullshit to pretty something up and make it sound better.

my sister lives in a bedsit and i live in a council house, i am not dissing anyone's place of living.

Yeah, I didn't detect any facetiousness (if that is even a word). The definition I found explained that a bedsit is a single room with a shared bathroom, and "are often associated with poor people."

Trust me, the term "studio apartment" isn't bullshit, it's just the term for a one-room apartment with dedicated bathroom and kitchen.
