Official TrekBBS Fantasy Baseball League!

nope. both leagues drafted a week ago. Can keep you in mind if someone drops out, but they're both full for the moment...

So I guess you guys didn't send out an email re inviting everyone? I've done BBS Fantasy for 2 or 3 years now and would have done it again, but was never contacted.

Not sure what else I should have done, this thread has been here, and towards the top of the forum, since the first week of February...

While I agree this thread has been here for a while and there should be no excuses, probably PMming people linking to this thread to normal regulars might have been helpful. I think you can send the same PM to multiple people on this board. Just a thought at least.

if someone wants to take care of that next year, that's fine, but putting up an announcement thread 2 months in advance, and then posting in MISC, TNZ, and my lounge that we were looking for people seems to be enough to me. Thought i had gotten most of the regulars, but can't be responsible for remembering everyone. Suppose along those lines if a regular thought they were being left out, they could have PMed any of the other regulars (between Me, Coaster, and Sportzkid, we run pretty much all of the fantasy sports stuff here) and taken charge themselves.

I still don't see the gripe here. If you show up in early April looking to join a fantasy baseball league, you're gonna pretty much be out of luck no matter what. If they'd looked for it earlier, it was in plain sight and we were begging for others to join...

Agreed.

To me, if you want to be involved in the league, the onus is on yourself to locate the thread and sign up by the end of February or begining of March. I found Scout's thread (all three of them) and joined. Had I not seen one, I would have PM'ed him or sportzkid by the middle of March at the latest.

I cannot honestly see the gripe here.

So, Week 1 is complete, time for some trash talking!

I won in all 3 of my matchups this week, and am sitting in 1st place for my division in all 3 leagues. See how long I can go without giving that up. And next up to feel my terrible wrath: Deus Ex and Giants Fan. Come get some!

Week one in the books, and it's already a better year than last year. I didn't lose. I tied!!!!!

Of course this week I play Scout so best not to get cocky. I expect a loss. ;)

What is up with the pitching this season. I've been getting crucified in that department and it sucks. After one week, who is the best pitcher in the majors now. It's non of the "stars" I don't think. Everything is just really inconsistent.

^Maybe Josh Johnson: 0.57 ERA, 2-0, 15 K, WHIP = 0.83

I know what you mean about the pitchers though!
In one league, I have Lincecum, Sabathia, Oswalt AND Nolasco - all who got beat up last week...

While I lost bad to Scout in the yearly league, I care more about the keeper league which is where I beat Coaster good. I just hope I can keep it up in the keeper league.

That's a pretty good start. Also, is the Rays pitching staff the strongest out of the gate? Hell, even the Florida staff didn't seem that bad to start the year. Is this a lesson for future drafts. Screw what pitchers did a year ago. You can't catch lightening in the bottle twice.

After a week and a half, I'm seeing problems with all three of my teams. My only win was in the TrekBBS yearly league, but even so, the stats didn't look too good.

Anyone in the yearly league looking for a decent 1B? I'm looking to trade Adrian Gonzalaz for a decent OF.

I'm looking for pitching mostly, especially a closer. Dropped Wilson this morning since the chances of him getting a save seems really minimal at this point.

Well, another week and I was right about losing to Scout. Even though I will say that I did have you in view and if it wasn't for Yesterday, I might have gotten more points. But damn were you riding high with Choo and Kemp this weekend.

I'm still looking for pitching (Specifically a Closer, even though picking up Franklin for the time being might be a good move) and am willing to discuss trades with anyone. If there is one thing I learned from last year is that if someone tells you to be patient, look at them and laugh because it's not true. Patience can only go so far until you're completely out of it and playing for first place in the losers bracket. Just sayin'.
