Official TrekBBS Fantasy Baseball League!

In the yearly league, I'm willing to trade Dustin Pedroia or Brian Roberts for a closer and maybe someone else. Anyone want to bite and talk trade offers?

I have an extra closer- I could trade you Brian Wilson (who I believe you dropped earlier this year), Scott Downs or maybe Fernando Rodney. But as far as the "maybe someone else", I don't have a lot to offer.

I'll do Downs for Pedroia, and sent the offer. Hope this is alright, unless you wanted Roberts

Stupid All-Star week. Hate how it results in a half-week for fantasy stats every year, it makes it a total crapshoot. Instead of a week, where things tend to average out a bit, one good game by one player can win you a week. Pegs beat me this week 6-4, never even feel like I got started. Makes me feel a LITTLE better that she lost 0-10 in the other league, though :p

I hate the short week as well- things always seem to turn out ass-backwards for me. I finally got a win in the keeper league (after 5 consecutive ties), but I got creamed by the Habs All Stars in the yearly league and fell out of first place. I wish they'd just skip the week of the All-Star game.

I for one love all star week :p

Now if only I could win 10-0 in the keeper league...

Just wait- I'll get my revenge.:)

Not to be an ass, but kind of a crappy trade that just went though. I'm sure you can look at the stats and say it's close enough to at least pass a smell test, but still kinda shitty. Of the 5 players involved, the best two are both going to Coaster, so not usually a sign that the trade worked out very well. Gallardo is clearly better than Cueto or Price, and Manny vs Kubel isn't even really an argument...

Not terribly shocked, as Coaster tried to grab Hanley for 2 under-performing players right before this trade, but still.

^I thought you were talking about the Trade Pegs and I made. In that, I think I should have taken Wilson. Oh well.

^no, that's not really a biggie, although I wouldn't have traded a stud position player, 1 year removed from the MVP, for a closer, but that's me. Was talking about the Coaster/Maps trade that is going through now. Closers just flame out too fast, and you can almost always pick one up, whereas a young 2B that doesn't suck is trickier.

At least in that trade, though, you were dealing from a position of strength to address a weakness. In this one, it was an OF and P for an OF and 2 Ps. No different positions, just a quantity for Quality trade. Not enough to protest, really, just don't see the justification on Maps' side of the trade.

Under a typical circumstance, I wouldn't, but I already had two stud position players for the same position. Needed a closer too so that's pretty much it.

Yeah, coaster got the better deal in that trade. He offered me the same two pitchers last week, but I wasn't about to part with one of my few good SPs for them.

right, why trade one good starting pitcher for 2 that aren't performing as well? Usually better off keeping the one guy, and playing matchups and FA fun with the 2nd spot. Especially if you lose Manny in the bargain.

It might have been a bit unbalanced but not close enough to veto it and with that let it go since both had agreed to it. In all my years of being commish I have only vetoed one trade.

But can see where you are coming from.

Glad I could get a little revenge on The Habs Fan. In July he beat me 0-10 in the yearly league, but I almost reversed that in the keeper league this week. :)

Just had a nice little 10-0 win myself :)

That said, STILL don't understand how the 1st, 2nd, 3rd calculations are happening, or if I'm just having a brain fart. I'm listed as 4th place, but compared to Coaster (3rd place), I've got something like 6 more wins, 3 less losses, and 3 less ties. Shouldn't that work out to be 3rd place, unless his being in the other division means he's guaranteed 2nd place no matter what?

I'm not sure how that works either. Under "Season Standings", you're 3rd in the NL, which ends up being 3rd overall. Right below the division standings is the season stats. The order changes depending on which stat you click on, but just before the team name is "RK" (which I assume stands for "rank"), and that has you listed as 4th. That seems to be the default setting for the season stats, but I have no idea how that's calculated.

I think it has something to do with overall average. I was wondering at one point why I wasn't higher than I saw, but then saw the averages and understood why. I guess it's easier to judge because you have to factor in not just wins and losses, but also ties.
