No comic relief character

I completely forgot about him.

I was thinking more along the lines of small kids from shows like Step by Step, Full House, Cosby, etc but he fits the criteria I mentioned.
Man, Wesley could be so smug and condescending at times.

I do like that all characters have funny moments, and so the comedy role is spread out over the whole cast.

That's how funny things work out in real life, sometimes someone says something funny, people laugh and that's it. There doesn't need to be one one person in every social gathering that is expected to bring in the humor and make everybody laugh.

Regarding Quark: Just because your character brings some comic relief, doesn't mean they're the comic relief character. When I look at Neelix I see a character purely created for laughs. I don't see Quark in the same way.

Agreed. Ferengi are often comical, but he was treated more seriously than any ever was, more so as the series went along.

As for TNG, I don't think a designated comic relief character was needed. Actually, I don't think they are ever needed because you can always put any character in a humorous situation.

Perhaps Neelix was. But even so, I still really wish we would have gotten more 'serious' Neelix episodes, because they usually were a much more productive used of his character. Thinking of the likes of Jetrel, Fair Trade, Mortal Coil, Homestead.

I beg to differ..
