Well, it looks like J.T. O'sulliven is getting the start again as QB. I wonder the reason why Nolan won't just come out and say JT is the starting QB is because it's pretty much admitting that Smith was a Bust. Kind of feel empathy for the guy given what happned last week and he never really had any kind of continuity, but I still can't get over the fact that last year he regressed as a player after the good year with Turner. Good QBs aren't supposed to regress like that.

BTW, are we doing the pick-em (on Yahoo or ESPN) thing this year? I could set it up, unless someone else wants to, but I do have a question. We don't use confidence points right?

Well, training camps are opening this week, The Giants and A's suck, so that only means one thing. The NFL season is right around the corner and I can't wait. I figure since this is the sports forum, we can seperate College and Pro, so if anyone wants to start the college thread, go right ahead. The NFL, though, is back and it's the time of year where your team might suck, but you have a chance because there is something about the league that psyches you up.

How's your team shaping up going into training camp? Will Brett Farve actually play for the Packers or will he actually go to a rival or stay retired. Will the Patriots actually lose a regular season game? So many questions and we've got 7 months to discuss it all.

My teams are the cowboys and bucs. Both look really good right now.I could care less about brett favre and am glad that he's not in Tampa. We have enough QBs already.

Football is back, and I can't wait.

Me neither

Alex smith is a bust. Same thing with Rex Grossman. The sooner teams can admit their mistakes the sooner they can get better.Alex Smith was not the better QB in that draft and Green bay got quite a find with Aron Rodgers. Chicago waited two years too late to replace Grossman.

Is this the place I sign up to register my complaints about the Chicago Bears? :scream:

When you get your asses handed to you by the San Francisco 49ers and look as absolutely listless as they did, you're in big trouble. Yeah, preseason means nothing, but they didn't play like they had any hope at all.

I wonder how long it will be before Bears fans start demanding that Kyle Orton be benched in favor of Rex Grossman. Quite the Hobson's choice they got going there.

Steven Jackson signed a six year deal worth $44 million.

Thank you, sweet merciful Jesus.

Given how Rex was booed on every play that didn't work, including ones that weren't his fault, I don't think that will happen anytime soon.

I hear Alex Smith might be available soon.

Might be getting a a wee bit closer.

Just got done watching the Denver/ Green Bay first half, and I have a few observations. First, on the second offensive Denver drive, I saw the Denver that I feel has been missing for a few years- a purely running O with a few passes. Yes, Denver's had good running years, but they've been passing a lot more in their recent years than I like. I miss the years where they would run, run, run, and then to change things up they would throw, and that second drive reminded me of those years of old. Second, on their final drive of the half, that was the single most beautiful ugly catch ever by Marshall! The catch could/ should have been a lot nicer, but it's tough to make a catch much more impressive than that.

The Dallas 1st string offense is better than the Texans 1st string defense. By a large margin. The Houston 1st string offense is OK, but isn't there yet.

I think the Texans are an improved team that may go 8-8 again because of being in the AFC South. The Texans still have a ways to go, but at least we aren't in the bottom of pile in the NFL now.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Aaron Rogers. He wasn't too shabby against Denver. Personally, I hope he kicks alot of ass during the regular season. Not for Green Bay's sake, but for his own. Alot of the so called "fans" (including a friend of mine) have been reacting disgracefully to all the Brett Favre business and even though Rogers had nothing to do with it, he's been the one taking most of the flak. So I hope he performs beautifully and shuts the trash talkers up. :techman:

And lost their best DE in the process :( Osi Umeniyora suffered a torn knee cartilage during the game and is due to undergo surgery tomorrow that could end his season :( Not the best way to start the defence of your Superbowl title, although Michael Strahan may consider coming out of retirement if the price is right (pay the guy is all I can say!).

GM

The season starts this week. No more preseason, no more fake games. It all gets going on Thursday and unfortunately I will miss it because I'm flying to Baltimore. Hopefully it's a good season opener.

Tonight's the night: Opening Kickoff 2008

Unfortunately I am missing the game because I'm flying to Baltimore but hopefully it's a good one.

Finally, football is back.

San Fran for the Superbowl!

Actually .500 would make me happy.....thank god the division is so weak.

Football is back. Once again I elevate false hopes, suffer delusions and generally act like someone who's been smokin' something funny. That's right, I'm slipping on my black and silver jersey, putting my black and silver cap on and resting my head on a helmet-shaped black and silver pillow, getting ready to watch the games. That last item doubles as a really good tear-absorber.....
