NFL Football - 2008-09 Season Discussion

Finally, football is back.

San Fran for the Superbowl!

Actually .500 would make me happy.....thank god the division is so weak.

Hey, at least I'm not the only optimist on this board. ;)

I missed the game last night but it didn't seem like I missed much. 11 first downs for Washington? That's awful. Can't wait till Sunday, in which on my Vacation, I'm going to be taking that day as a football day.

Not the most exciting game to open the season- had I not been doing something else at the same time, I probably would've gotten bored rather quickly.

Today: NFL! Huzzah, hooray, and amen.

Unfortunately, Columbia's CBS and FOX stations are clueless - despite the fact that the Jaguars, Titans, and Falcons are all within 5 hours of the city, they usually refuse to show any of their games. (They probably wouldn't show Panthers games unless they were forced.) They show the national games instead. I really do not understand this; especially the Falcons, since we're close enough to Atlanta to be designated a secondary market if it weren't for the Panthers.

Ah, well, I guess I'll just have to wait for Jaguars/Colts to see them on TV. Thank goodness for NFL Field Pass (radio broadcasts).

Anyone else in a similar situation? Can't see your favorite team on TV? What do you do?

The Sunday NFL Ticket renders it all moot.

:techman:

Some us are poor college students who can't even afford digital cable. :(

$30/year > $75/month

And the Jaguars' radio announcers are better than 3/4ths of the talking heads calling these games.

The Sunday NFL Ticket renders it all moot.

Living at a sucky resort on the East Coast with a small TV screen makes me wish I was at your house. Than maybe I could see the damn Niners because today I won't be able to. Oh well. :(

I'm going to miss Denver's big season opener against Oakland tomorrow because I will be helping the college vball team... I knew there was a down side to that job. :(

I'm a Seahawks fan in the Buffalo area and should be really jacked up to see my team on TV (to poor for Sunday ticket). But for Christ sakes could some one please catch a fucking ball!!!!!!!!!! I've never seen so many dropped passes.:brickwall:

Jesus Mary and Joseph!

:scream:

My prediction of a Rams Super Bowl may have been a little premature...

:brickwall:

Crap.

The Jaguars' offense has nothing, and the defense can only do so much before they're overrun...literally. This game is over.

Well shit, Tom Brady gets injured in the 1st Quarter, so I get to watch Matt Cassell all day...woohoo....

Fortunately he held down the fort and NE wins 17-10, thanks to a major stop by the NE defense at the end of the fourth quarter.

Ravens win their opener!

Congrats to Joe Flacco and Harbaugh! Really surprised and impressed by Flacco's composure, the performance of the rookie Ray Rice (let's ignore the turnover ) and the young O-line. Oh, and D-Fence! D-Fence! D-Fence! :techman:

I'm going to go ahead and savor this, as I only expect another 3 or 4 W's this season. :borg:

The Ravens' D was absolutely MANLY today! Screw ego, that play where the Bengals got stuffed on 4th and 1.... can't understand why in the world they ran right up the gut. The Ravens' haven't allwoed a 100 yd rusher in ... how long? You have good speed, they're expecting a dive liek that.... go outside!!!!!

But man what the Ravens offense - who won't soon make anyone forget the Colts - cinched it up and just ran, ran, ran the ball deliberately and toook all the time off the clock.

The Bengals' D .... when you let a statue like Flacco run that far for a score, when you let even a fast returner run through a crowd and barely touch him .... be embarrassed. Very embarrassed.

I fucking love when they try to run up the middle against the Ravens. Pure comedy. Of course they had little choice, as they shut down both Chad Whatever and Houshmanzada. :techman:
