I quite like these especially if we are jumping 800yrs ahead. They look a bit bajoran in the drawings but on the actual pics not so much.
Not to be negative, but if you are going to update the badges, why not change out the uniform too? I assume its budget driven, but I would not have missed the navy blue uniforms...
I suspect these may be intentionally retro design inspired by the archaic Starfleet arrowhead. Indeed, the trailer (from last fall) seems to imply the arrowhead is now a thing of the past with Cleveland Book commenting that Michael must believe in ghosts because she has the arrowhead on her uniform.I find it odd that 900 years in the future, the Starfleet delta is still the officially used symbol
Modern English wasn’t even around 900 years ago from today.
Apples and hand grenades. Languages are fundamentally different from symbols because its syntax evolves over time, naturally and organically, as a culture's evolution changes along with it. Symbols are specifically designed to transcend generations as a commonly-accepted pictograph representing a grand concept. For example, the symbols of the world's major religions have been around, generally unaltered for over a thousand years. In the case of the Star of David, many thousands of years. It would not be unreasonable to believe that the Starfleet arrowhead might be somehow preserved, albeit in a stylized fashion, a millennium or so into the future. If there is some remnant of a fractured Federation still ambling around the galaxy, it would make sense that they would try to exemplify the Federation principals of Old by appropriating their symbolism to herald a new era of cooperation and exploration. The crew of the Discovery is from a time frame where the Federation was growing and will likely be providing historical living insight and context on the subject to their descendants.I find it odd that 900 years in the future, the Starfleet delta is still the officially used symbol

Why? A war had just ended and a new crisis was brewing. I doubt changing uniforms was high priority. They made sense in season 1 as a nice evolution from ENT but the second Pike stepped on board in S2 people should have started changing
Then put the enterprise crew in the blue. I just think it's dumb that SF would slowly change uniform ship by ship. A ship like Discovery in pre replicator times would need constant re supply so wouldn't be hard for an intergalactic 23rd century organisation to chuck in some uniformsI don't feel like the "TOS" Uniforms fit Discovery. And now that they've jumped into The Future, I'm glad they didn't make that switch. It's easier for me to separate DSC from the 23rd Century if they're not in uniforms that remind me of then.

From the Star Trek Universe group on Facebook. No idea if they're fan made or the real deal.
Let's see Kol try to pick his teeth with that.![]()

Indeed. In the novels (written during season 1) the explanation was that the blue uniforms were worn by all Starfleet with the colour-coded uniforms being exclusively worn by the crew of Constitution class ships. Indeed, despite the line about the Enterprise having new uniforms in the season 2 premiere, the rest of season 2 seemed to adhere to the idea that the colour coded uniforms were exclusive to the Constitution fleet given everyone else we see in Starfleet were wearing the blue uniforms, including personnel at starbases and even Starfleet Command itself. Then the Short Treks came along and showed people on other ships and starbases wearing the colour coded outfits, though curiously the Admirals in The Trouble with Edward still wore the blue uniforms.Unless different assignments or fleet divisions have different uniforms. The Constitution/Starship class have always been treated as special.

The oddity in Trouble with Edward is that those uniforms actually seemed very different than the Disco ones. They weren't as deep and dark a blue, but more pale and subdued - they seemed to be ALL blue, without any of the copper, silver or gold trim to show branch designations. They had a low, flat and evenly-cut collar, as opposed to the fussy asymmetrical ones all the uniforms we've seen possessed up until that point, AND they had rank braid and standard insignia, which the Disco ones didn't - almost like a hybrid between Disco and Enterprise designs:Indeed. While I appreciate the Discovery uniforms, these ones from "The Trouble with Edward" is probably my personal favorite style. The oddity in Trouble with Edward is that those uniforms actually seemed very different than the Disco ones. It does appear to be a relatively well-thought-out compromise between the two. While I appreciate the Discovery uniforms, these ones from "The Trouble with Edward" is probably my personal favorite style.
