I wonder if it's something Zora cooked up, or perhaps the standard combadge of the 32nd century Federation? It doesn't look like a Starfleet arrowhead.
Or then Georgiou knows how to build S31 commbadges, and sees no harm in divulging the secret a century early (since it's actually quite a few centuries late!). So the heroes go for this nifty new feature that gives them an edge (or at least makes it ever-so-slightly less dull and rusty). Too bad that this is just about the worst possible angle to get a look at the things! Why are you hugging each other, ye bastards? You don't even like each other! Timo Saloniemi
That's a very odd looking badge. Doesn't look like it has any arrow shape on it. It's mostly solid on the left, as seen on Dr. Pollard and has a tail coming to the right. But what is that ship in the background? It's not the Discovery.
I think the photo has been taken in the mess hall in front of the commemorative images of ships lost at the Battle of The Binary Stars.
Although it might be the unfavourable angle causing this, his looks like a very flattened ellipse, but her badge seems to have a very small flatter edge on. top, and a more obvious one at bottom. It makes hers' look like a flint arrowhead!
Almost looks Bajoran. To me, his looks elliptical and hers looks pointed at the bottom. Anybody else notice that his uniform is tailored much better than hers. Also, she has a Zippered Pocket.
The future is very elliptical in the Trek-verse. First the Enterprise D went oval, then the E was all elongated, then the J was stretched to spindliness. Now even the badge has been pulled like taffy.
Is the CMO still performing an Andorian Tonsillectomy? Oh, this isn't a caption contest thread, is it? The question still stands.
I have no doubt Georgiou gave herself a promotion. Plus it looks like she has the extra gold on the outside of the shoulders.
Surprised no one has done the: "NEW Badges...We don' need no stinkin' new Badges...." Personally given the angle in the shot, it's hard to tell anything about them.
Probably the only one with the balls to rebuild the Federation. I guess Discovery got into an alliance with whatever power is in the area. They'll all being wearing arrowheads again at the end, when Michael Burnham saves the universe of the future from whatever is threatening it.
I think they are the same badge, just the angle is making hers looks different. I'm assuming these must be the new badges for the 31st Century Starfleet. After all this time, it's weird to see one that does have the arrowhead shape in it somewhere.
At least there still IS a 31st-century Starfleet (and, presumably, Federation). Diminished, to be sure, but in some form, it's still there. So season 3 is apparently not quite as dystopian as I feared it would be.
