Perlmutter then had the TV division resurrect the project in what was a very high profile manner, including a limited theatrical release for the premiere. Perlmutter was also the one behind the big push on the Inhumans in the comics at around that same time.

I thought the comics and AoS/MCU push for the inclusion of Inhumans was because they didn't have cinematic rights to use the X-Men at the time, and then once those rights were returned their was no need to have the Inhumans take their place.

Hmm, I'm uneasy with the news about Agatha emulating a particular cultural portrayal of witches in every episode. It feels like an attempt to copy what WandaVision did, and that seems like a bad idea. WV had a specific reason for its approach; what mattered was not the surface form, but the deeper character story and themes that it was used to illustrate. A different show should find its own way to tell a story that arises just as organically from its characters and themes.

Basically, yeah, but Perlmutter was the "they" you're talking about, since he was the CEO of Marvel Entertainment. He was in charge of the comics, TV, and movies until Disney restructured things to give Kevin Feige sole control of the movies.

No need to apologize. I didn't take it as nasty and instead as a legitimate question.

And to answer it, I thought his performance of that particular version of Deathlok was pretty good. To be perfectly fair, I want Richards to return so we would have that connection with Agents of SHIELD. I think such a return would work and his origin could be briefly recounted without making new viewers feeling left out.

Yup, I completely agree. I keep hoping for at least Daisy to show up at some point. Still holding onto hope...
Sounds like that should be a lot of fun. I was wondering if the were going to be doing anything like that since this is a spinoff of WandaVision, so it's nice to know they will, and the way they're way they're doing it works for me.

This is off topic, but since the importance and relevance of the man's work and legacy have been brought into question recently in this thread, I'm happy to report that Dick Van Dyke is still winning Emmys at 98 years old. Of course he is. He's Dick motherfucking Van Dyke. And of all of the projects from his long and illustrious career that he could talk about here, the project he spoke of was none other than... The Dick Van Dyke show.

Wait! Dick Van Dyke was a consultant on WandaVision! That makes this on topic after all!

You know a few months ago I started watching 'The Dick Van Dyke Show" for what was in essence the first time. While I am sure I might have watched a few episodes back when I was a kid it wasn't many. I have totally fallen on love with the show. It is now one of my top 10 for sure tv shows of all-time.

That was such a lovely article and I'm glad he got some recognition from the Emmys!

I actually knew about this at the time. They talked about the show and how to best capture the magic of his show for the purpose of the emulating it and other shows. Such a cool gesture on their part.

He was so much fun at our Con this year!

"Just Mercy" was a good movie but I wish they would have went with someone who is a bigger name who has a more visionary take. I would love to see Sam Raimi get to do a modern day "Spider-Man" movie. Cretton I feel is one of those studio friendly directors meaning the real director will be Kevin Feige. Still will be a good movie though I suspect.

Well it does seem to be how most of the MCU has worked for awhile. The only two directors it seems to have real freedom would be James Gunn and Taika Waititi and maybe Ryan Coogler. Also Ryan Reynolds it seems was able to do most of what he wanted to do in "Deadpool." It's clearly been a good formula for awhile. Not sure how long they can keep it up due the MCU fatigue that eventually took place. The upside in this situation is your really got to be bad to screw up a "Spider-Man" movie and I think this director is solid so he won't do that.

So that's four already (I'm counting Shawn Levy as your Reynolds note) plus Sam Raimi...so who is it that you're claiming had no 'real freedom' as director recently?
