Major League Baseball 2009

I'm really hoping the Braves go 4-0 and the Rockies go 0-4. Would be really awesome... but unrealistic.

Sorry Starbreaker The Rockies are beating the Brewers 9-1 in the 8th inning. Looks like the Braves get to watch the playoffs from the comfort of their own homes.

That was the most anti-climactic clinching of the playoffs ever. I was eagerly watching with baited breath to see the last out and the Phillies win when the Braves lost and the out suddenly became completely meaningless.

Barring the Braves somehow winning the Wild Card (highly unlikely at this point), or some weird collapse by the Dodgers combined with a massive winning streak by the Cardinals (even less likely) the Phillies will play the Rockies (Dodgers can't play them). Not a match-up I particularly want, but I can live with it.

Nah, I think the Red Sox the other night pulled off the most anti climatic clinch ever...

Still, the Phillies one was pretty good...

Woops, yeah, losing to six games straight to clinch is pretty damn anti-climactic :D

The Tigers still have their magic number at two. The Twins won today to stay alive. It'll be an interesting race to the finish. The Twins have the easier matchup, going against Kansas City, but will have to face Greinke one more time.

I'd say the Rox season was a little better than good. From going to giving the Nationals a run for worst record to going 73-40 since May 28 is pretty incredible. And they're in position to win the West, they just have to do something they haven't done this season - win in LA.

If Jim Tracy isn't NL manager of the year, I don't know who is.

We have to face Greinke, but you have to face Peavy. It's kind of sad that I'm forced to root for the White Sox- that's going to feel awfully strange.

I saw highlights of the Twins-Tigers game yesterday. What an ugly game (not for how the teams played, of course). I find it interesting that the Twins player who was hit yelled at his teammate. To be honest, he's kinda right, although, at that point, it was ugly no matter what (the game was decided and pitchers were still pegging people).

I got a kick out of that. Players moved to keep Delmon Young from going after Detroit's pitcher, and he goes off on Jose Mijares instead. Not often a relief pitcher manages to piss off both sides in a game, but Mijares managed to do it.

Wow, the Rockies won again and are only 1 game behind the Dodgers. There is a chance they could win the NL West.
Man Ram really has really been ineffective since his female fertility pill suspension.

drewlitton.com and he draws for 9news.

I miss the News, too. Between myself, my younger sister, and my dad, there was a Rocky Mountain News paper route in the family for 20 years.

Rockies winning the division would be great for the Phillies, since, otherwise, we'd have to play them. Such a slim chance, though.
