Major League Baseball 2009

Ouch for the Braves - they cannot score against the mighty Pirates of Pittsburgh evidently, losing #5 in a row by a score of 10-0. This brings them to 5-6.

How 'bout them Yankees? Shelled 22-4 in their own house.

Beckett seems to have recovered from his wild inning. Sox still on top 6-4 against the Birds.

EDIT: And the Sox hang on to win it. Looks like they might finally be coming out of their funk. Even Papi had a couple of hits.

I'm sick of Braves injuries. What the hell are these guys doing? UFC before every game? Ugh... and the bullpen STILL SUCKS. Mike Gonzalez needs to go back to AAA and take a bunch of guys with them. We've got better pitchers that can be utilized in the late innings. Not everyone has to be a AAA starter. Geeeeez...

Even better - look at the stats...

Wang 1.1IP, 1K, 8 hits, 8 runs.
Claggett 1.2IP, 2K, 9 hits, 8 runs.

And between the two of them, they gave up 3 knocks.

Ouch...

I watched the last few inning of the Yankees game- I was rooting for Cleveland to keep piling it on and set a few more records.

Wang must be having some serious doubts. That whopping 34.5 ERA is enough to get into any pitcher's head.

After their poor series against Toronto, it looks like the Twins are getting back on track. They still need Carlos Gomez to break out of his slump, though. All of that speed doesn't do any good if you can't get on base to start with.

Meh. I'm pissed that the Yanks got hammered, of course. But no fair-weather fan here. :techman:

Then again, you were cheering for the Red Sox a little while back (the '07 world series, at least), so you're not the most hardcore Yankees fan to start with ;)

Jays won again today! Overbay was the hero in the series, with that walk-off home run yesterday, and hitting in the lone run today. The pitching was excellent, too... 3 runs across 21 innings between today and yesterday. Good to see them taking up the slack when the bats are a little cooler.

Was the pitching excellent or just Oakland's offense terrible. I'd go for the latter. Both Bay Area teams have no offense lately.

As for the other team, looks like the Giants are going to win, but why did they take Johnson out so early. He was only 70 pitches or there abouts going into the 8th. Perhaps, it is an age issue, but the unit was dealing today.

I wasn't able to see the game, but from the sounds of things the pitching was indeed excellent. I'm a little biased, though. ;)

The Phils only gave up four runs today - almost a season minimum!

Sadly the Braves won. I was really hoping the Pirates would shut them out again and continue Atlanta's losing streak.

I do, or at least did, have a rather casual attitude towards sports rivalries (which I always viewed as total bullshit), I admit. Although my attitude has changed a bit in recent years...I mean, I did just recently purchase this. ;)

And no, I didn't cheer for the Sox during the Series (I didn't even watch that), it was the ALCS. Although in my defense, I did have what I consider to be a good reason (the Indians defeated the Yankees in the ALDS and I felt awkward turning around and cheering for a team that I had just been rooting against).

Maybe they just didn't finish the idea in their heads? They figured the nice close dimensions would help their homerun totals... Just didn't follow that through and realize that it would help the other team too, especially if your pitching is suspect ;)

It's the same dimensions. That's what's odd.

K-Rod, Putz, and Santana=God. They get their :borg: on cause resistance is futile.

I know the season is still young but Johan leads the NL in strikeouts, ERA, and is 3rd in WHIP.

Lets also not forget about how Los Mets have the best bullpen ERA in the league. Santana+Putz+K-Rod=Win. Its nice having a bullpen after the last two years. Now if only our offense can wake up. Obama needs to pass the "No Runner Left Behind" act to help this sorry bunch out. I can understand not producing against Josh Johnson, or Gallardo the other day, but it is completly unacceptable to get smacked around by the Jeff Suppans of the world. I don`t care if its game 1, 25, 80 or 162. Jeff Suppan should not be able to hold this team to 2 runs.

But not facing exactly the same direction. Wind is getting caught up in there and slipstreaming balls right out of there...

Besides, those dimensions were chosen to create home runs for the Babe anyway, so it IS kinda intentional, for lefties anyway.
