Spoilers Lower Decks General Discussion Thread

Not sure how much new info is in here, but worth a read regardless. Very interested in seeing how this show plays out. The more variety in Trek, the better.

And if they do make it for children first, to not keep out the adults would be nice. But this new one is a cartoon and can't be taken in the same way "A Matter of Honor" was regarding the eating of serpent worm gagh. (Small universe syndrome aside (do Romulans and other beings eat? Is it always worms?) and with a side note: I also wonder who will mention the lack of vegetarian equivalent in the 'toon first, not unlike "Lonely Among Us" with its quaint discussion o' food...)

Apologies if I'm missing something obvious, but what point are you making?

Romulans do eat, of course. As do most other species. "Worms" is mostly a Klingon thing, but I dare say some other species have a similar diet. Why would you assume there is no vegetarian options? We've seen people eating meals that do not have meat in them.

No "worms" are Ferengi food, gagh is Klingon food ;)

According to the article It's aimed at adults, but it's rated PG-13.
So it's not adults only, but not for children either.
There is going to be a kid's show on Nickelodeon at some point. But this is probably going to be Rick and Morty lite with Trek tropes. I'm looking forward to it, it's more kinds of Star Trek and may bring in fans that the other shows wouldn't have.

Looking at that cast photo I see only two white men.

WOKE AGENDA! FORCED DIVERSITY!! LIBERAL SJW GARBAGE!!!

I'm looking forward to it.
;)

If anything, it's not very diverse at all. Looks mostly like a bunch of Humans, a furry (hopefully voiced by Danny John-Jules) and an Orion woman.
We're thinking very small if our idea of diversity in Trek is "differently-coloured Humans". Especially since it's probably "differently-coloured Americans".
