My cherry picking TOS marathon appears to have got stuck in Season Three...
The Mark of Gideon, followed by Elaan of Troyius, Wink of an Eye and The Way to Eden (No matter how much I drink I will never be able to bleach the image of Space Hippie Charles Napier from my consciousness...)
Last night, a couple of "remastered" third-season TOS episodes, more out of curiosity of what the new special effects looked like than anything else: The Lights of Zetar and Is There In Truth No Beauty.
A Taste of Armageddon. At the end of Act 1, things sure looked bad for our heroes. After that, things go down hill for Anan 7 once he starts to tangle with Scotty.
I can see that. I definitely started noticing it sounded like the rest of the Berman Era by the end of that season.
It's something I can watch through. And if I have it on, I can keep going. But when I'm done watching a given number of episodes, I don't feel a burning urge to dive back into it. I dragged my feet along for most of 2019 until it hit November, then I realized, "I have to get cracking and pick up the pace!"
This is the most TNG I've seen as an adult. But I want to be able to intelligently say how PIC is like TNG and different from it. And I don't want someone to have an advantage over me when TNG comes up. I'll be able to talk about it with a fresh perspective instead of from faded memory.
Some of my opinions are still the same, and some of them have changed because of the rewatch.
I didn't have to do this with TOS when it came to DSC a few years ago, because I know that show cold.
