TOS:
"The Alternative Factor" - geez Louise (and Wells and Denver too), where do I begin with that bland pile of do-nothing with hokey melodrama, wide shows that reveal where "Shore Leave" and "Friday's Child" had various angles taken at during their filming, copious gobs of vaseline on the camera lenses to simulate the "spatial winky thingie effect", Engineering reduced to a tiny room and prop console never to be seen again despite the cost of making the show and its propensity for set reuse, and an Engineer who should be wearing red and not blue. Then again, this is season one and they hadn't figured everything out yet.
"Spock's Brain" - It's not exactly a good episode, and actually has a ton more plot holes, but somehow remains eminently more polished and entertaining than the former episode. Spock acting like Sheldon after his sip of Red Bull at the end is almost worth it. It's almost trying to throw a curve ball into TOS' usual tropes and maybe trying to throw in big changes such as a humanoid brain controlling the computers but the whole thing is less than the sum of its parts. Impeccably less. Note that the remote control McCoy (or Scotty?) rigged for Spock's body is a 1964 Communicator prop given a coat of paint and big blocky buttons.
