Less than a year away + we know nothing about this film/ No marketing

Re: Less than a year away + we know nothing about this film/ No market

Obscure, niche properties don't take $500M.

Re: Less than a year away + we know nothing about this film/ No market

I'm sure there are people at Paramount who care.

Re: Less than a year away + we know nothing about this film/ No market

Paramount cares and CBS cares. I'm already starting to see some smaller inklings of what they are planning for promotional ideas.

I know that the current culture is a hyper-informational, and the lack of details seems odd. But, I think we have plenty of details thus far (the Dubai shoot has created a lot of buzz) and it will only increase.

Re: Less than a year away + we know nothing about this film/ No market

CBS just cashes the checks. ;)

Re: Less than a year away + we know nothing about this film/ No market

And they care about that ;)

Also, they have a theme cruise planned for the 50th, and I'm sure 2016 will see more promo material.

Re: Less than a year away + we know nothing about this film/ No market

I wish we could get some synopsis at least.

Re: Less than a year away + we know nothing about this film/ No market

I'm watching the film anyway, so I don't need any synopsis, spoilers or hints.

Re: Less than a year away + we know nothing about this film/ No market

I'm wondering how much of the buzz (or lack thereof) for this film is being obscured by the fact that MUCH MUCH larger films are opening before it.

Even within my own bubble of Trek friends nobody is really talking about nor caring about Beyond and by-in-large they all liked the first two films.

Obligatory (and premature) arm-waving & panic thread / (No marketing?)

I think it may still be a bit early to be looking for much buzz. (I do seem to recall similar concerns being expressed around October* during the lead-up to the last movie.)

Things began to crank up for the previous two movies in mid-to-late November, with the first trailers appearing in December. I'd expect it to play out along similar lines this time around, even though we're now looking at a July release date rather than the May openings of the last two.

* Edit: my mistake: it was the end of September, last time.

It always amazes me that a show about the future has a fanbase that's so stuck in the past.

It's 2015. Star Trek is an obscure, niche property that no one outside of this forum really cares about. There's not going to be any buzz.

You think not?
Inasmuch as you had any point to make here, -Brett-, I think it can be now considered made, and you may safely retire.

But one more thing before you go. Things like this?

Don't post them.

Swipes at other fans and/or fan groups are completely unnecessary, they add nothing of any value to the discussion, and they may be considered trolling.

Just don't do that, 'K?

I have made up a whole story in my head already. I hardly need to see the movie!

General buzz for TFA was kicked off by the trailer. A kick-ass trailer for BEY (yes, I'm calling it that!), once they have some of the CGI finalised, could have a similar effect.

Re: Less than a year away + we know nothing about this film/ No market

^^
It's all in the timing. The idea that Paramount will release a trailer when there is the lead up for a competing franchise is a waste of time and money. There will be little return on it. To me, those who would watch the trailer and remember it are fans already, who will be watching it anyway.

Trailers require specific timing and creation to be effective. I don't have any doubts that Paramount has it mapped out based upon movie theater, MPAA and other guidelines.

Re: Less than a year away + we know nothing about this film/ No market

^ Agreed, releasing a trailer now, with all the noise for Star Wars that is only going to increase towards its release date, would be self-defeating. General reaction would be "It's not even releasing for 9 months, so who gives a ****?" Wait until after TFW has hit, and the audience is feeling "Gee, I could go for another sci-fi space adventure about now."

There will be a Super Bowl trailer.

Funny. I'm not aware of any rule that says only "me too" responses were allowed here.

Thank you for your suggestion, but if posting on this forum again amuses me I think I'll do so despite your recommendation. K?

Î think a first short teaser trailer & a teaser poster in december is possible.
