Kurtzman: 2 more live-action shows in the works

I'm guessing one is Pike. No idea about the other. Could be Starfleet Academy. Could just as well be something DS9-based... Who the Hell am I kidding? :p

It probably is going to be a Pike Series and an Academy Series.

I hope it is Pike and some Anthology show that will hit different important events/eras each season.

Pike would be nice, could also be just a miniseries if Anson is too expensive or time-limited.
An anthology series continuing some of the many 'seeds' that were left over the hundreds of episodes would be cool.

I sooooo hope one of them is a Pike series! I really think Anson Mount deserves to carry his own series after his amazing performance in DSC's second season.

Probably Pike and Starfleet Academy, though I would love a West Wing kind of show about the birth of the Federation, set in the 22nd century.

I foolishly cling to some hope they might do something set immediately after Archer's prequel 22nd Century Enterprise. There's still a rich seam of the Star Trek Universe they never got around to by the time 2005's cancellation happened... the Romulan War, the Birth of the Federation, Starfleet expanding to include Andorian, Tellarite, Vulcan crew members, M.A.C.O. evolving into Security. Briefly touched on with Idris Elba's Edison being with the military but made Captain of the U.S.S. Franklin in Star Trek Beyond.

It's a question of finding a different setting to all the other iterations. Perhaps make it an Earth-based, political series with occasional glimpses of character backstory prior and ongoing expansion into the Alpha Quadrant setting up starbases and strained alliances with different governments. Bakula starting out with good intentions as Federation President Archer but having his utopian ideology worn down... and then it seeds Section 31, Picard and Discovery's exploration of the organisation going more and more off the rails, until it apparently collapses in the far future.

I would assume that Starfleet Academy is one of the two, and it fits with the CBSAA approach of all the shows being different to each other. I'm really curious as to when they would set this, though. Personally, I think a series set at the dawn of the Federation, when the academy is suddenly seeing an influx of alien species', would be the best time. I'm not sure what we'd gain from seeing it in any other time period, but I'd love to be wrong.

I'm not convinced that Pike is the second series, nor that we'll even get a full series focused on him. For me, Pike is only going to get either a CBSAA movie, or a mini-series. I'd rather the TV movie format, personally. Let's spice things up.

For the second live action series, I'd really be keen on what others have suggested: a political show, based around Federation politics. I guess that Picard is delving somewhat into that area though, and Discovery seems to be, too, so perhaps there's not so much to mine there.

Who knows, maybe the second show is based in Discovery's new time period, as they look to flesh out that era a bit more. Or, as was once often suggested, a 29th century timeship series.

Early 25th Century, please. Picard can establish the period and another series can take off in it's own direction - perhaps something more Starfleet-orientated (?).

At the very least, a series with a clear road ahead of it minus any pre-establish bloody canon.

I hope at least one of them will be something really unexpected. (ie: Not crew on a starship.)

A series set on post-war Cardassia. A comedy set on Ferenginar. Something set at the academy. Colonists who are stuck on the wrong planet. A West Wing style show about the Federation President. A spy thriller that is set on one planet per season. A medical show like John Byrne's old McCoy comic. Or something. :)
