I'm sick of these prequels, give us an Enterprise in Discovery's 32nd century.

I am all about moving it forward into the distant future. We have different ideas now about where technology may be headed than when Trek started. Endless possibilities there. Let's boldly go somewhere new. Bring in Michio Kaku to consult on it.

And the fun part is, just like Alan Moore in Watchmen actually tried to highlight the better parts of humanity, so were the (first four seasons) of Game of Thrones not the "dark, hopeless" world many name them as.
All Game of Thrones did was set out not to give its characters any slack for being the main characters. There was still a lot of uplifting and positive moments, especially when it came to highlight the love (especially friendship or familial love) people can have for one another.
The latter four seasons...well that was two bro-dudes that had run out of material to adapt (or were ignoring material they hadn't adapted yet) and just writing what they thought would be "kewl" or "subvert expectations, even if it meant ignoring the main plot.

Walking Dead...yeah...you got me there. But that series' idea was flawed from the beginning "A Zombie Apocalypse that Never Ends" creates a (fairly) static scenario that basically negates any hope for (long term) improvement. In that show it can only get worse.

Learning the wrong lessons, as I've heard it phrased. I'll admit, I did think GoT was just relentless death and darkness, so nice to know it isn't. Still more graphic than I'm personally able to tolerate, though.

As to WD, I believe the writer of the original comics, Robert Kirkman, has a serious penchant for nihilistic situations, but also the sense not to drag it out as long as the shows have.

Speaking of graphic, having just learned how brutal Picard becomes, I'm now pretty convinced KurtzTrek isn't for me. Maybe, in future something will come along that recaptures what I loved about Trek, but I doubt it, and for the foreseeable, I'm sticking with the classics.

I don't have the biggest stomach for gore and violence; The Witcher was a tough sit through. But, good grief, the one scene in Picard makes the whole series brutal?
