Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley developing Star Trek reboot for Paramount

I used to be a canonista, but since it's very clear that CBS/Paramount have lately taken a very...'loose' approach to 'canon' (i.e. they're not taking it as seriously as hardcore Trek canonista fans do), then I don't have to take it seriously either.

We really align on this one.

It's my headcanon, I don't expect anyone else to adhere to it, but to me, DSC, SNW and by extension SFA are a separate thing to what I think of as being the 'Prime' timeline.

I don't say that to lesser any of the above mentioned shows. It's just easier for me to look at it like that.

... who apparently, enjoy pooping in trucks.

Sure they do. It's art and open to individual interpretation. Producers intent do not change personal perception.

It is not changing it when the intent lines up with audience expectation and acceptance of the chapters' fit within a series--the lesson from DS9 & ENT's TOS episodes, and the successful continuation of TOS characters in the movie era. If you choose to ignore how successful the merger of TOS had been with / within Berman-era series.

Agree to disagree. If you cannot engage seriously and with respect and without mockery or assumptions about my knowledge then I see no reason to continue.

Attempted dodge. The entire matter has been discussed seriously, but your specific claim of "not attempting to sell anything" is the laughable issue, because you've spent pages hard-selling your view.

No, I have not. I've argued my viewpoint and opinion based on my personal experiences. Repeatedly being laughed at is not serious. Thank you.

That is my choice because TMP characters don't connect to TOS counterparts in my humble opinion.

I genuinely hope this new take isn't a revisiting of Kirk and Spock, and it truly is a new set of characters. Time for a completely new, fresh take! Keep the universe, but meaningfully new please.

Open to what "meaningfully new" looks like!

The only thing Picard season 3 had going for it was the chemistry between the actors.

Also character development. It showed us where all the TNG characters are at in their life. Plus we got some good news characters like Picard's son and Geordi's daughters and of course Shaw. The villain wasn't great but okay. More Seven of Nine as well. She showed us why she would have been a good lead for that would be Legacy series. Not to mention all the fan service they did in a subtle and creative way.
