She's captured, I'll give you that. But she then escapes by herself and would have probably got off the base by herself if she hadn't run into Han and Finn. That's one loss so far which turne out to be a boon in the long run narrative wise because it got her where she needed to be. Luke's failures are just general failures.In TFA, I liked how Rey stopped herself from getting captured from Takodana by fighting off Kylo and preventing him from using his Force powers on her. Speaking of which, I also liked how Kylo's use of his Force powers on Rey while she was on Starkiller Base gave Rey no opportunity to learn about using the Force against people. I especially liked how she'd heard nothing about the exploits of the Jedi and so had no idea what the range of their powers were back in the days of the Republic.
Does anyone remember when we used to complain about Luke being a whiny baby? How pathetic he was? How useless? Now we're having to convince people he isn't a ubermensch.
