And ST:PIC fixed that by having Laris calling them "Northerners".

This guy, a Northerner from Picard, got ridges. If fact his name should be "Ruffles".
he's got vulcanoid "neeson brows" XD and nose bridge, then deep creases around those and the bulge

interestingly, i was looking at screen caps and BTS pics of the modeling process of the skulls in confedPicard's trophy room, and the one that is meant to be sarek's apears to have very faint versions of the v-ridges, the kind of features you wouldn't really notice with muscle and skin covering it... and then the klingon skull that's supposed to be martok's they didn't seem to bother to make have his pattern, okay, you made him a discogon, at least give him his pattern! weird combo of thought vs lack of thought, idk... artist maybe wasn't told they would be specific peoples' skulls.

I haven't read the whole thread, so apologies if this has Been brought up, but in regards the "northerner" thing, this was an inside joke based on a jest GR made way back when ST: TMP first introduced the (then) new Klingons, saying that the old ones were southern Klingons and the new ones were northern Klingons.
Another thing to consider is that when Spock first meets Number One in the Short Treks episode "Q & A", that short takes place before "The Cage". And guess what? The Enterprise looked like the DSC/SNW Enterprise, not the Enterprise from "The Cage".
So, some would have us believe that we go from the SNW Enterprise to the Cage Enterprise back to the SNW Enterprise and then to the TOS Enterprise. Which just sounds ridiculous. After a certain point, Occam's Razor applies. It's much easier to just treat it like two different versions of the Enterprise.
Either... Glass Half Full: some people honestly forget about "Q & A" or, Glass Half Empty: they hoped no one would remember. Which one is actually the case? We'll leave that question open-ended.

If I treat SNW separate from TOS what have I lost?
Honestly, TOS stands apart for me. It's unrelated to anything that follows.
That's the peril of me not watching the show. I would do that awful "notice things" thing we aren't supposed to do.
