Hoping for new ENT episodes someday?

There have been many non-canonical books written about the Earth-Romulan War (The Good That Men Do, The Romulan Way). I wonder if it would be acceptable to have those books be considered canon. Not in the sense of producing episodes based on them, but by using the titles of the books as history books and their authors as historians. So, a captain is looking through a historical database on the subject and the list of comes up, and can quote events or facts or various aspects of the war from them.
Discovery season 2 took an element from the novelverse (Section 31's Control) and did their own version of it, and Picard gave us a totally different version of what happened post-Nemesis to what the books did, and that was co-created by the author of the post-series Voyager novels they contradict. So I doubt the events of the ENT books are any more canon than those.

That said, I'd get a huge kick out of such visual references to the expanded universe.

I'd go for an Enterprise follow up miniseries or elements of Ent being folded into a show set between Ent and TOS.

Depending on exactly when, cameo or feature Admiral/President Archer and other human or two perhaps, or if later, Phlox or T'Pol.

ENT fans, I thought this thread was going well... is there any more ideas to share about future ENT episodes or stories?
I think the Denobulans have a past and have something to share in expanding the Star Trek Universe. It doesn't have to be blood shed or a war but a secret or a spread of philosophies which altered new civilizations we haven't discovered or created within the Denobulan circle.

Within the timeframe of the original show, I did have an idea of there being a Denobulan decathlon, where one of the stages involves them having to circumnavigate the global by swimming. That is as much competition as it is a rite of passage. And that there is a conservationist subspecies that lives underwater the Denobulans do not talk about and there is a conflict of sorts that flares up when the Denobulans begin to expand both underwater and above water cities due to overpopulation.

There was another idea that involves the crew being asked to retrieve a series of Rosetta Stones that have been raided from the museums of Coalition of Planet members, with one of those Rosetta Stones being revealed to show a link between the Vulcan, Romulan and Rigelian languages. Meaning they share more than physiology.

Another could be based on a small mining consortium that, based upon urban legend in the former Delphic Expanse, genuinely believes that Archerite exists.

But trying to tell stories in the original context the show was set in is kind of limiting, since after “Terra Prime” its just build to Romulan War, then the war, then the founding of the Federation. At best, we just have Shran possibly replacing T’Pol at her former post. Sure, there is the benefit of the writers having to focus on Hoshi to make her a strong female character from that point forwards. But would the writers be okay turning the triumvirate of Archer-Trip-T’Pol to Archer-Trip-Hoshi? Or Archer-Shran-Hoshi?

I would not mind if the producers used CGI to de-age the ENT cast for flashback scenes for away missions or shore leave, since the original sets have been destroyed. But I would like to go in a new direction with the ENT crew if we see them onscreen again. At least setting new adventures 20 years later allows for exploration and greater creativity in a time period that just does not get explored or mentioned much in the series. And can remove the timidity of the original run in the process.

Archer jumping from Andorian ambassador, to Federation Councilman to Federation President to a return to being an Admiral in Starfleet each season, basically as a 22nd century blend of the legend of Theodore Roosevelt, the war hero status of an Eisenhower or Grant & the inspiration of JFK is intriguing. Especially on how it influences his personal relationships with Shran, Talla, T’Pau and Soval, as well as his former crew. Maybe chef continues to works for Archer. Maybe Archer grows to dislike his various diplomatic and political jobs the more he is stuck in an office on Earth and preferring the wild west Starfleet life.

Trip being alive and leading a quiet life out of the way of everything Starfleet, working random odd jobs.

T’Pol being half-Romulan results in her heading into Romulan space on her own to look for her father, and members of Starfleet learn of this excursion and consider her a defector.

Seeing the middle deck crew (Reed, Sato, Mayweather, Phlox) progress in their careers and play a role in (re)building Starfleet & making first contact with known Trek species like the Saurians. Similar TOS fanservice like in S4, but with reimagined S5 episodes being used as well (since its 20 years later, after all), and them leading instead of following.

The refit NX class could be its own ship class, one which has managed to reach Warp 6 using Henry Archer’s engine, but is clearly seeing more radiation leaks and random core breaches since it wasn't designed for that and Warp 7 engine can't be retrofitted for this particular class. Combined with more radical transporter malfunctions (think body parts appearing where they shouldn't or cargo inexplicably disassembled). which forces both the chief engineer and the transport chief to be positioned on the bridge, since those areas are seal off to everyone but authorised personnel. Which forces the armoury officer to do his/her work in the armory. And the ship class needs to be decommissioned and mothballed altogether, and Starfleet is reacting rather slow about it.

Seeing Daniels return one last time, and acknowledging that the warp scale changed between Archer’s time and Picard’s time (warp 7 meaning something different to both eras), and that the warp speeds under Archer are considered sublight speeds in the future. And he brings is up because they are brought to the future to deal with something involving the Ent-B or Ent-C.

Even looking at the early days of the Federation-Romulan Cold War would be more interesting than another war series. Was there an opportunity to normalize relations between the Federation and the Romulans and it all fell apart? Did the same happen with the Klingons and contribute to the beginning of the Federation-Klingon Cold War?

I could go on forever, I suppose.

Those are some nice ideas and would show a progression of the stories done on ENT. Transitioning of uniforms would be something to see, I guess it would have to be in the vein of DISCO which would not be a problem but gee I would have loved to see Archer and the crew wearing uniforms from "The Cage".
I would love to see a series of episodes which leads Archer to Future Guy based on Brannon Braga's comments was apparently Archer himself. How far in the future was this figure from? What would make Archer become that person? I was also curious how would ENT introduce the character figure of Robert April? He was introduced in TAS and has been installed in some fan turn pro chrono-books but he has never been introduced in a live action format.

In a revived ENT for one more season, I’d be following what DSC did in its first season, in having it be divided in two parts to covering two different arcs – the NX refit, and the Romulan War. Basically explore the final year of peace & exploration, pre-war, and a very brief exploration of the war itself. These general synopses may briefly retread some story ideas I’ve had, and some proposed S5 ideas. But, as a concept, it would be workable for a hypothetical fifth season of ENT to fill in any important gaps that are perceived to be missing. Its limited to 15 episodes, since I do not think ENT would get more than that in an actual revival these days.

Part One: NX Refit

5x01: T’Pol departs the NX-01 for a new and deeply personal 5-year mission; Shran joins the crew; Trip is promoted to First Officer; location of the first Starbase is established; use of the transporter starts to become very dangerous to the health of the crew.

5x02: Boomer story, pt 1 – the latest conflict between boomers & pirates - this time over long missing cargo ships - draws in United Earth as a whole, resulting in boomers taking over the newly refit NX-01.

5x03: Boomer story, pt 2 – Boomers & pursuing pirates enter Kzinti space; Archer and his crew retake the ship.

5x04: The crew visits Denobula to witness a Denobulan right of passage involving one of Phlox’s children; issues regarding overpopulation reveal a hidden underwater subspecies on Denobula.

5x05: Columbia story – the NX-02’s first contact with Stratos reveals a growing Gilded Age society on the planet Ardana. And the crew meets its strong-willed yet secluded administrator, who strongly resemble a certain Delta Quadrant Queen from the 24th century (Yes, this as much an origin story on the Borg Queen as it is a story connected to TOS).

5x06: Reed deals with two different issues from his past – his LGBT+ orientation and being a descendant of Colonel Green; Hoshi seeks a transfer from Starfleet to a different United Earth department, Mayweather seeks a promotion, Phlox deals with the fallout of the recent visit to Denobula; Shran struggles to adapt to life on the ship compared with other Coalition of Planet crewmembers (a middle decks story )

5x07: TCW epilogue - Archer finally learns of Future Guy’s true identity and learns what his goals really were; Future Guy leaves Enterprise with a gift – a Suliban cloaking device - necessary for the coming conflict…

Part Two: Romulan War

5x08: In Year 1, Archer looks for help against the Romulan Empire - from friends & enemies alike - and gets rejected universally; Mayweather leaves the NX-01 for the Horizon due to anxiety from the war effort; Hoshi meets her future husband; Reed is asked by Starfleet to transfer to the new United Earth Stellar Navy, with a promotion to commander and his own ship – the UESNS Dauntless.

5x09: In Year 2, the NX-01 is engaged in its top-secret recon mission in Romulan space, while learning about the war effort from afar through reports; the NX-01 faces off against a new state-of-the-art Romulan BoP. (A Hunt for Red October kind of story)

5x10: In Year 2, Enterprise is in pursuit of stolen relics from Coalition of Planet members by a unique human-Orion partnership. Which yield a profound discovery linking Romulans, Vulcans and Rigelians. And a “sacrifice” from the crew (i.e. Shran). A truce between the Romulans and Earth is announced.

5x11: In Year 3, the NX-01 crew is enjoying shore leave on Risa. But they learn that the Romulans won’t leave them alone (reworking the Star Trek: The Beginning script from the perspective of Archer & his crew).

5x12: In A Mirror Darkly, Pt 3 - The Terran Empire attempts conquest of the Romulan Republic (conclusion to the ENT Mirror Universe arc)

5x13: In Year 4, The Battle of Charon takes place, and seen solely from the perspectives of the Romulan Empire.

5x14: In Year 4, negotiations with the Romulan Empire after the Battle of Charon are tense, and while peace is achieved, both sides grow embittered with the other; NX-01 leaves Charon to retrieve T’Pol; the formation of the Federation is announced.

5x15: On Vulcan, weeks before signing the Federation Charter, Archer talks to T’Pau about a lingering question he's had since childhood - the Vulcans inaction on Earth during the post-atomic horror considering their historical paternalism of humans; Trip is contacted by Starfleet Intelligence about his knowledge about Xyrillian holotechnology and his openness to work with the recently pardoned Dr. Arik Soong; the crew reunites 15 years after their last mission together. (resolve an unanswered question, as well as making TATV make more sense)

If others could do better, I would not mind reading.

Man, FederationHistorian, you haven't raised the bar, YOU ARE THE BAR. These are some interesting angles for these characters, my only critique would be of episode 11. Could shore leave be on Wrigley's Pleasure Planet instead of Risa?

I kid you not, I've occasionally had recurring dreams about ENT being revived for some kind of miniseries event. And those dreams date back some 15 years and counting. It's bizarre. It's hardly even my favorite Star Trek show, though I am a fan. But it's always left a void in my heart. A void that has begun to mend thanks to our new age of Star Trek on TV, mind you, but a void that still remains.

I thought the notion of an Enterprise revival was frankly an impossible reality until sometime around last year or so. Now that All Access has so much Trek, I've begun to wonder if it's so wild an idea. Even a TV movie would be great.

I wouldn't mind a limited six-part event which could properly wrap these characters' stories which should be within it's own element and have nothing to do with TOS.

I’m totally cool with that. Was only following the ST; The Beginning idea. Wrigley’s Pleasure Planent works too, and was mentioned in ENT S1, so it would be worth visiting. Its another TOS connection too, so there's that added benefit, and too my knowledge has never been featured on scree before.

And thank you for the compliment!:techman:
