For All Mankind Trailer - Apple TV- SPOILER

If you haven't seen the latest episode (Season 5 Episode 2) then do not, I repeat DO NOT!!! click on this Spoiler Box. I'm serious. Watch the episode first. Okay, for the rest of you, I have to ask...

Did Ed Baldwin just die?!

Can't wait for next week.

Seems like it. If they want to remain realistic a Medic is minutes away if coming from the ISN base, even more so if from Happy Valley. We know Ed has late stage cancer so it was just a matter of time.

It was simply his time and i like to believe he was going out the way he wanted to, doing something daring and Ed-like.

Something i was wondering - what's the big deal commercially about finding life on Titan? I mean it's not a fully evolved life form like a plant or animal, just a protein for now so how would one gain something profitable from it except for the scientific value? I mean Goldilocks is easy to understand with all the Iridium you can mine and sell on Earth but a simple protein?

Man, i really need to rewatch the previous season. Half the time i am completely missing some plot points beause i have completely forgotten the details of the previous season because it's been so long. This is why i have a problem with these insane production times nowadays that take 2-3 years between seasons at best when in my 20s and 30s they would knock out 22-26 episode seasons every year with SFX like Star Trek used to do.

Ever since streaming took off it's been a massive waiting game.

Back to the episode - so 3 storylines currently ongoing. The murder that is tried to be pinned on Lee without knowing at this point who actually did it, the race to confirm life on other planets/moons and the shady things Kuragin does at night that might be connected to the murder. Oh and the main storyline with tensions slowly rising in the Mars colony (again) that might, as one outcome, see a total separation of Mars from Earth jurisdiction and Mars becoming a state/country/whatever in its own right.

Things are heating up.

My guess is Ed might still have a pulse, but is near death, otherwise they wouldn't need a medic "right fucking now!"

I liked the callback to Ed putting an unreasonable and excessive amount of Kraft parmesan bits on his spaghetti. And then ruining dinner by being an asshole. It was funnier the first time when he used a spoon rather than pouring it all out at once, though.

A very enjoyable episode. Boyd continues to impress by actually looking into the situation with Lee, rather than sitting idle. There are too many "It's out of my hands" types on the red planet.

That Kelly has managed to secure a crewed mission to Titan gives me hope that the season continues the theme of exploring space rather than lots of interplanetary squabbling. I really look forward to seeing how they'll show surface activity when they reach their destination.

Kuragin is obviously very dodgy, and I'm not sure how that will unfold.

Ed will be fine...I think?

I dunno. This very much feels like it could be a last hurrah. I don’t expect them to start the next episode revealing he’s gone already, but I could see him passing away onscreen next week, with an implied or stated passing of the torch to Kelly & Alex. (Or not, of course.)

EDIT: You could argue that Ed’s had his full arc: he’s gone from fighting and hating the Communists in Korea (and afterward) and ultimately choosing space over his family, to family (on Mars) being far more important than his old career, and giving his all (and quite possibly his life) for his North Korean friend.

now i wonder if eds 1st wife and son will make cameos when he is near the end

Seeing Ed dump all the Kraft parmasan made me laugh, i did the exact same thing the day before (on Earth though not Mars).

I must be a Baldwin.

The seasons alternate between the odd numbered "Getting There" seasons and the even numbered "Being There" - as such the current season is a "Getting There" season, and we've already been presented with our destination, the Asteroid Belt and Titan. We've already seen the Sojourner 7 mission patch in leaked photos.

The "Being There" seasons are also told mostly chronologically (1983 in S2 and 2003 in S4) whilst the "Getting There" seasons have time jumps (1969, 1971, 1973 (briefly) and 1974 in S1 and 1992, 1994 to 1995 in S3) so we can assume time-jumps are involved. At the moment we're presented with a chronological plotline - the murder investigation and the Titan Mission proposal - so we probably need to spend a good half of the season in 2012 to deal with that (much like S1 spent five episodes in 74) and then time jump.

Let's skip 2012 to 2015, this allows us to age up Alex and his friends to Post University, launch the mission to Titan (call the Helios mission the MCVN Ed Baldwin, the competing Earth mission presumably becomes Sojourner 7) and then ...

Unity covers Earth to Mars (78 million KM) in a Month, Mars to Titan is going to take about (1200 million KM) 18 months at similar speeds, so jump to 2017 for the final three episodes. The inter-season jumps are nine years (3 to 4 is 8), and we then have a flash forward to 2026.

The flash-forward at the end of S6 is thus to 2035 with a similar scene to the end of S1 and Kelly watching the launch of the first STARship under the command od Alex Baldwin.

Curiously we've had loads of allusions to the Titans, Kronos was the asteroid capturing mission in S1 and Helios (is obvious). Would not be entirely unsuprised if the Helios mission is Prometheus and Happy Valley or the Titan base is renamed New Corinth.

S1 (19) - 1969, 1971, 1974
S2 (21) - 1983
S3 (22) - 1992, 1994 to 1995
S4 (23) - 2003
S5 (26) - 2012, 2015 and 2017
S6 (27) - 2026

I thought that this season was to be the last.
I don’t remember who, but I saw one site refer to it that way when the season trailer dropped last month. I figured it was a mistake since no one else, especially Apple, said that.

Finally got a chance to watch the new episode.

I love a good prison break (second one this week after Daredevil!) and if this is the end of Ed, I love how he went down with one last act of defiance. And yet...I wouldn't surprised of that stubborn bastard will still hold off death.

That said, I appreciated how the prison break was a last resort and not Ed's first instinct. He tried to do it the right way but everyone who had the authority to slow down the process only cared about their own self-interests.

Including, of course, Dev especially now he has a bigger goal in mind: Possible life on Titan. Yes, Kelly was acting on her own self-interests (even if she wasn't willing to admit it) but when she got her way, she at least tried to be civil and work amicably with Martin. But I wasn't surprised he rejected her immediately. He made it clear that he nod interest in working with her when she first addressed the situation, why would he now? I clearly need to rewatch the show because I can't honestly remember if we've seen him before and whether we know why he has a chip on his should against Kelly or if he's just a regular ol' douche.

I'm sad they killed off Svetlana during the time jump, but much like Sam, there had to be repercussions for last season's actions. I'm just sorry we won't get to see either of them again.

I'm still wondering if Aleida will get pulled towards Mars at some point since she still feels far removed from everything. But her focus is now on Titan and I can't see her making the journey all that way. On the flip side, as long as Aleida remains on Earth, we'll see more of Margo.

I continue to love Boyd especially how she doesn't believe Lee is automatically guilty like everyone in authority is blindly (or perhaps not so blindly) accepting. Looks like there's something of a conspiracy going on and I look forward to watching her unearthing (or should that be un-Marsing?) the truth.

I liked the callback to Ed putting an unreasonable and excessive amount of Kraft parmesan bits on his spaghetti. And then ruining dinner by being an asshole. It was funnier the first time when he used a spoon rather than pouring it all out at once, though.
Yup, that was a fun callback. Some things never change.

There's definitely a sixth and final season. That was announced a couple of weeks ago.

i still that think eds friend lee was framed and its most likely that
the head of the happy valley police whats his name and maybe the governor of mars whats his name both most likely killed that other korean dude
because of that company that whats her name was watching when she was on that stake out

I'm starting to think Kuragin's space elevator is going over budget and and off schedule so they started doing shady shit like hiring cheaper workers with shittier conditions to try to fix it, bribed the governor to look the other way and then used "suicides" as a cover for worker deaths as a result of said cost cutting and the whole Lee railroading is a halfassed plan B becuase Boyd managed to poke holes in the suicides and the circumstantial evidence for Lee was something they latched onto to save their asses since last season made it clear what happens if they piss of the Soviet Union.

Until it was revealed that Ed was driving the rover, I was wondering if some-one was making an attempt to kill Lee and the two guards were considered expendable.
