Enterprise Bridge Console - discuss!

^
And not only that wasn't it the last day of filming on the bridge? Pretty sure it would be finished by that point...

just been 2 toyfair, bridge playset on view there, faithful layout to trek canon, champagne coloured metal finish around consoles, and view screen in front as always.transporter room slightly different but retro, costumes almost exactly like st tos, kirk in jumpsuit, and also space suit

Thanks, very cool to hear TOS style uniforms will be in the movie. Too bad you didn't take any pics!

Well the set certainly didnt look finished. Maybe they had started removing sections they didnt need or something because the place looked like a mess.

^ It's not an assumption. It was stately quite clearly and repeatedly that the cast and crew were answering the questions from the bridge set during the filming of the last scenes of the movie. Heck, the caption under the photo reads, "JJ Abrams takes a station on the bridge of the Enterprise to chat with fans."
It was also stated quite clearly that the Guardian of Forever was going to play a role in this film.

I didn't see a quote from Abrams stating that he was on the bridge. Did you? I saw a quote from a website writer stating that.

It wouldn't be the first time that an article writer leapt to the wrong conclusion and wrote something "so very conclusive" while being completely wrong.

Can you show me where someone on the production team identified that picture as being "the bridge of the Enterprise?" I haven't seen that sort of statement.

Well firstly, the Guardian nonsense was just rumors. It didn't come from the studio. That said, here are some direct quotes from the chat transcript, from actual cast and crew, not Trekmovie staff:

JJ: Spock is HERE, right now. I can see him. Uhura and Bones and Chekov and Sulu and Scotty are ON THE BRIDGE and they are wonderful.

Roberto Orci: Just to set the scene a bit, call time today was 1 PM. So JJ is setting up his first shot right now on the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise — bear with us…

Quinto: .literally shooting the final scene of the movie as i type (of course we shoot out of order - there are more than two months of shooting still to go). so we are getting close to finishing all of our principal photography on the actual bridge of the enterprise (and scott chambliss has made it come alive like you won’t believe)

So, to sum up: They were shooting on the bridge set during the chat. The photo we see was taken while JJ was doing the chat. Sorta obvious conclusion? The photo is of JJ on the bridge set.

Well, we have some text, and we have a picture of Abrams. But there's nothing CONCLUSIVE that demostrates that the two are from the same moment.

All I'm saying is that I'm not going to leap to conclusions without all the facts. COULD this be the bridge? Sure... though it really really doesn't look anything like ANY prior Enterprise bridge ever has, as far as I'm concerned.

Could it be a different bridge module? Sure. Could this be the "real" bridge module? Sure. Could it be the "condom dispenser" in a 23rd-century bathroom? Sure.

All I'm saying is that I'm not CONVINCED BEYOND DOUBT. If it looked more like anything I'd EVER seen before... if it called to mind any aspect of the bridge, whatsoever... I might be more inclined to make this same "jump to conclusion" as others are. I'm just not making the leap yet, because I haven't seen enough to convince me it's the right leap to make.

Fine, whatever. It is a piece of the bridge set, no matter how much you want to ignore patently clear evidence.

I'm sorry, guys... it's not "obtuse," it's not "not being willing to face reality" and it's not "ignoring patently clear evidence."

But thanks for taking shots at me for not being as anxious to leap to unjustified conclusions as you are.

You guys did notice that I never said that I'm convinced it's NOT part of the bridge. Didn't you? Why do you think I never said that? Could it be... oh... that I didn't MEAN that? Ya think?

Look. Star Trek is filled with set pieces. Some are on starships, some are in other settings. We have a TEXT that states that some stuff was done on the Bridge set. We have a photo that is bundled along with that showing a console.

It's not UNREASONABLE to ASSUME that this is a photo on the bridge set. But it IS unreasonable to state that this is an absolute certainty. That's called "jumping to conclusions."

This isn't jumping to conclusions. It's drawing a pretty darn reasonable conclusion based on a preponderance of evidence. Jumping to conclusions is declaring the movie will be a shaky-cam BSG-style dirge because the teaser was dark.

I am certain that photo is of a part of the Enterprise bridge. You aren't. Maybe we should just leave it at that.
