Enterprise Bridge Console - discuss!

^Nope. It's going to be set two months before the events of "Caretaker". Janeway will be Kirk's 2IC and Neelix will be Head Of Security. How did Neelix get to the AQ *before* the events of "Caretaker"? A-haaaa... you'll just have to watch and find out.

And the disembodied soul of Jack The Ripper will have taken up new lodgings as the ship's computer voice. That God Who Needed A Starship will also play the warp core. Again, before (no, wait... after) the events of Star Trek V... but a clever inclusion, if you think about it.

Quark will be the ship's cook and Scotty will be subordinate to Roxanna Dawson. No, not Torres - Roxanna Dawson.

Is this the pic that started the argument of if the bridge was finished

Looks like a view outside of the set and he moved when the picture was taken of the console

No, it was THIS picture:

And again, I just don't see anything that makes me think "Federation Starship Bridge" there. It looks more like a fleet command and control center, or possibly an alien (Romulan?) navigation console?

That's because you've never seen this version of the Enterprise bridge before.

We have several independent sources telling us that the interior sets have been noticeably redesigned from what we're familiar with.

I meant the argument about it being a completed bridge, and I agree it looks like it could be the new Enterprise bridge

You've never seen this version of the Enterprise Bridge before either.

Again, I'm not saying that I'm certain that this couldn't be a bridge console, only that I'm not CONVINCED that it is, any more than I'm convinced it's NOT.

If it looked a lot like what we expect a bridge console to look like, I'd be more easily convinced. But for now, all we know for CERTAIN is that this is a console. NOBODY HERE (unless someone's been on the sets personally!) can be certain that we're seeing a bridge console and not, say, the workstation in Kirk's quarters at the Academy, or the navigation console on Nero's vessel, or (as I said before) the condiments counter of a 23rd-century McDonalds!

Why it's so important to some folks to be "100% certain" of something that they cannot possibly be "100% certain" of at this point is... odd.

If it turns out that this is, in fact, on the "real" Enterprise bridge set... I'm sure that some folks will come on here and claim "victory" and try to "gloat" over how they were right and I was wrong. Which would be appropriate, if remarkably childish, IF I WAS SAYING THAT THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT ON THE BRIDGE.

Of course, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm just saying that I have yet to be CONVINCED. For the simple reason that there's no evidence, just a few loose insinuations that prove nothing. All ANYONE HERE knows is that this is a setpiece on the Trek set. Nobody... NOBODY... who posts on TrekBBS knows for certain that this is on the ENTERPRISE BRIDGE SET.

Sometimes you leap to conclusions and you end up being having made the right conclusion. That doesn't justify having gone there before you had sufficient reason. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day, after all! ;)

Anyone who gloats about being right or wrong about a tony snapshot of an unknown console which may or may not be the bridge from who knows which ship needs to get a life really

That's quite a leap itself, since we don't know the real people behind many of the posts on this board.

I personally don't care what you believe about these pictures. I'm just reminding you that it's been said by people who claim to have seen some of the sets that the interiors won't be particularly faithful to the original series. You can take that FWIW.

How is it a leap to say that we don't know for certain?

We have yet to see the movie. The trailer has yet to be released. We have one person sitting at a console never seen before. Keep in mind that JJ was not Actually quoted as saying he was sitting at the bridge of the Enterprise.

A poster's statement that we don't have enough evidence to make conclusive statements can hardly be rebutted with a lack of an arguement.

Make your claims that this is the bridge of the Enterprise. Cite your sources, present your arguement, but don't get all huffy because some people want a little more evidence before "leaping" into belief.

Cary, Based on what numerous people (Like Orci) were saying during the web chat, we can be almost certain that the Abrams Photo is on the bridge.

Now, it may not be the set 'turned on'. Perhaps those black bars could be where the blinkies are or something. But we can't really see enough to say what the whole station/consol will look like.

You may have something there with the Romulan idea. If you look right above his glasses you see a glyph that looks like a four. Perhaps that it is indeed a Romulan glyph!

It was a leap because he said that nobody who posts to TrekBBS knows for certain. We don't know this because we don't know everyone who posts, so that assertion was a leap.

Make your claims that this is the bridge of the Enterprise.
I don't know for certain that it's part of the bridge, but after considering the evidence I think it's likely.

I don't care that others don't believe it's a bridge console. I'm just saying that the bridge may not look the way we remember it, or the way we'd want it to.

Well, after seeing the set this is what James Cawley had to say about it:

I like the set. The bridge is spectacular, absolutely stunning, but it is not what I would have done.

You are arguing in circles. We don't know, and that is the point. That fact that we "don't know everyone who posts" only emphasizes the point that We Don't Know. There is no leap in judgment if no judgment is being made. However it is wrong to draw a conclusion based on a lack of evidence. He may have mistakenly made a conclusive statement that "nobody who posts knows for certain" but in the context of what he was saying, I correctly or not, took that without evidence being provided, those people are merely making unsubstantiated claims.

That being said- this is turning into a tired argument that is not only unproductive, but we have obviously said what we need to say. Let's move on- you believe in whatever, I will wait until more evidence presents itself.

Actually, this makes me quite pleased. Seems like they are giving Abrams alot of liberty to do what he likes. Which is good, IMO.

I mean, if we are gonna have fresh blood, then lets have fresh blood!

Absolutely Right(TM).
