Enterprise Bridge Console - discuss!

Abrams is certainly a master of obfuscation, so we can't tell for sure.

However, they were on the bridge set and filming bridge scenes during that chat (Abrams commented on how cool it was that he was watching Sulu, Chekov, Uhura, and Scotty on the bridge at that moment during the chat), so I think it is a fair assumption that it was actually the bridge in that photo. I have no reason to believe it isn't -- nor do I have any reason to believe that it might be the bridge, except for Abrams' comments.

Maybe PowderedToastMan could chime in and clear this matter once and for all. I'd think they (Abrams and Co.) said where JJ is sitting with his Mac. If I'm not mistaken they were in constant phone connection duing the chat.

Just a thought.

If that's a TOS-style HUD astrogator/navigator in that shot, then at least some aspects of classic bridge design have been retained into the new movie. For all we know that circular grid pattern might be something else...part of some shatterproof console display like a sensor readout or something...but if it is a TOS-esque HUD display of some sort for navigational purposes it'd be a nice little touch and throwback to the '60s.

one thing i noticed is that the bridge playset was not that big,was about the size of st tos,no bigger, oval in shape, this was one of the toys which did not look complete,I guess playsets arnt that accurate to go by in terms of working out the true scale of their movie counterparts.this playset was for the 4 inch range,do u guys think there will be a battle room like 1st few eps of stng?

How is it a leap to say that we don't know for certain?
It was a leap because he said that nobody who posts to TrekBBS knows for certain. We don't know this because we don't know everyone who posts, so that assertion was a leap.

Make your claims that this is the bridge of the Enterprise.
I don't know for certain that it's part of the bridge, but after considering the evidence I think it's likely.

I don't care that others don't believe it's a bridge console. I'm just saying that the bridge may not look the way we remember it, or the way we'd want it to.

---------------
And that's an entirely reasonable perspective to take. I'm just more skeptical, that's all... I don't trust anything without something pretty concrete to support it. My experience tells me that if it CAN be misinterpreted, the odds are very good that it WILL BE misinterpreted.

Hell, this BBS is proof positive of that! ;)

You've got a pretty good point.

"I mean, if we are gonna have fresh blood, then lets have fresh blood!"

"Absolutely Right(TM)."

Bring on the blood sacrifice! :D

The new Starfleet officer uniforms took all the black away from "The Cage" uniforms.

The new bridge did the same with "The Cage" bridge.

This shouldn't be a suprise. :wtf:

Is this the pic that started the argument of if the bridge was finished

Looks like a view outside of the set and he moved when the picture was taken of the console

IT'S A GREEN SCREEN !

As in this is outside the set acting as the main viewer, note the little white squares that'll be used by ILM to insert stars or ships or whatever have you into 3 dimentional coordinates useing them, or something.

* Just thought i'd point that out to folks *

thats part of the bridge, the recessed 3 lines are every where, dont get this ongoing debate about the placement of warp nacelles,or if this is the bridge!

Star Trek XI is not going to be set right before "Charlie X".

Why is that sooooo difficult?

The same way it's so difficult for you to figure out that "The Corbomite Maneuver" was the first regular production episode, not "Charlie X".

Ok, let's stop with the comments about other posters.
Discuss topics not posters.

It's a few years old but I doubt anyone has seen this:
Joseph Narai of Smart AV introduces the seemingly Star Trek-inspired Smart Console, an ultra-compact, ergonomically minded mixing desk built around something Smart AV calls "ARC Technology" -- a touch-sensitive, curved control strip that provides instant access to any channel.

I must say looking again at this photo of the Enterprise NX-01:

and then at these how much the console design is similar.

after this recent post on the Bridge thread showing diagrams of the bridges and the consoles. The consoles do bear a resemblance to them.
