That would seem to indicate DS9 will not be remastered. How often has it been shown in syndication? I can only remember once years ago on the Sci-Fi Channel. If I am (hopefully) wrong on this please chime in...

It was strip syndicated briefly in the mid-90's. I remember the Dayton, Ohio station WRGT-45 playing it at 10AM weekdays for a short while. Then it was part of the package Paramount signed with The National Network/Spike TV. But they seemed to rarely play it during their ownership of the broadcast rights. It hasn't aired anywhere over-the-air/cable here in the U.S., that I'm aware of, since the expiration of the Spike TV deal.
My understanding is the DS9, VOY and ENT run in a very limited amount mostly small foreign markets. TOS and TNG are literally rerun all over the world at anytime of the day.
The sad truth is DS9 would cost more than TNG to remaster due to the CGI effects and has a far more limited market share in terms on syndication and blu-ray sales. I think for CBS the investment is seen as too much of a risk.
Yeah, but seemingly no station wants to show DS9.
Dunno about the US but in the UK all of the series are shown regularly. Used to be on Sky1, nowadays it's on SyFy.
Though right now DS9 is the only Trek series not being shown in the UK.
Forget Syndication anyway. Streaming is the future. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc is where this is going to sell. I have no doubt that putting a few million dollars into DS9 and VOY would return a profit in the long run as a result of these streaming deals. Any sort of syndication and physical sales only just makes it more obvious of a choice. Only CBS has DS9 and VOY streaming numbers from these outlets, but I have a feeling that they are substantial even if not on par with TNG and TOS. Just my two cents.
I'm sure that CBS has crunched the numbers and they didn't come out favorably for a DS9 remaster. They wouldn't leave money laying on the table.

Let's hope so. But I'll believe it when I see it.
This is why I think it will happen, if not right away. While CBS is not Paramount, the Trek brand has been a consistent money maker, and if you don't give the later shows the HD treatment, their viability as money-makers will be diminished.
Sure, Netflix doesn't publicly reveal their numbers, the talk is that Trek does well for them overall.
The technological costs for producing HD versions of these shows will go down, and CBS-digital has probably become more efficient at this over the course of the TNG HD run. And if Netflix wants to help fund DS9 and Voyager in return for exclusive access to HD version of the show, I'm all for it. Even if that means delaying blu-rays of the shows to maximize Netflix's investment.
While Netflix's own shows are known for being released an entire season at a time, there's nothing to stop them from releasing batches of DS9 and Voyager in HD.
Although Amazon does have TNG in HD, perhaps a new Netflix deal could make Netflix the "only place for all Trek in HD" at least for an extended period.

Maybe I missed it, but is seems like there's no there there. Unless I blinked or drifted off, I didn't hear a single mention of DS9 in HD. Another cruel raising of the hopes for no reason as far as I can tell.
Regarding the "hint at DS9 in HD" mentioned a few pages back from a review. I haven't watched all the special features yet, but I think they might be referring to the Lensing roundtable.
There's a moment towards the end where they start talking about specifics of DS9, and then stops saying "we can talk about that later." Then the very end seems to cut to the closing remarks by everyone.
Since this roundtable was originally slated for TNG S6 and does appear to be a bit shorter than the previous roundtables (45 mins vs 60-90 mins), in addition to the cut and off the cuff remark, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to convince someone that they re-edited the roundtable to save some of it for a future DS9 release.
To be clear, I highly doubt that's actually the case. This roundtable and most of the others have covered DS9 without shying away. The reviewer may have read a bit too much into it. Plus thrown in some speculation about DS9 getting the HD treatment helps get people linking to their site.

I'm afraid that's all old news from long ago. It would be nice to be wrong on this, but indications are it's not going to happen at this point.
