Does anyone like "American Dad?"

It sort of gets unnoticed I think because of Seth's "Family Guy" and now "Orville" shows not to mention his singing and Ted movies but I have always liked it. Roger use to be my favorite character with Stan my second favorite but I got to say I have really started liking Klaus. The fish is way more funny than I use to think. I hope the show continues to last many more years on TBS.

I like the episodes where they play around with the format.

I tried to watch it at the start. It’s a little funny but I think it misses the point of the jingoism it parodies.

When the joke works the show works. When it doesn’t I get really turned off by the sociopathic disregard for human life of the entire cast.

^ Pretty much my feeling as well. I can't even try to watch it now. For a short while, it could be funny - like Family Guy - but, it wore out it's welcome very quickly.

It doesn't really focus on jingoism all that much anymore. Mostly because we are in a different time and international war doesn't seem to be a important issue to anyone right now and the Iraq War is over so it's mostly just about the family now.

That element of the show faded away early and it became more focused on the characters and pushed them into weirder directions. A lot of it tends to spin out of Stan being a CIA agent, either being assigned a mission or using scifi tech to help him with some minor issue. Like one where he's stressed and builds a model train set, he eventually decides to use a shrink ray on the family so they can live in it only to be threatened by ants. Another has a family vacation to a Disneyland parody turning into a Lord of the Flies situation with each family member forming tribes based on the lands of the park and then going to war against each other.

Not that I recall. I mean he has done much worst things. All of them do especially Roger. The mom for example was getting Steve hooked on her breast milk a few episodes back in order to make him become dependent on her and they did a episode were they were giving tours of murder spots.

I haven't watched it much since it moved to TBS, but I enjoy it when I do watch it. Roger is my favorite character.

Well almost 300 episodes and 17 seasons.. Must be doing something right.
Marathoned alot sometimes. Sometimes it's a stinker, most times it's funny. Roger is my most hated character, and he usually just F ups the fun francine is best.
And yes, the body count is like Hot shots part Deux sometimes.. Even had a kill counter on 1 episode.
And Patrick Stewart is freaking Hilarious!
Enjoy it more than family guy.

I couldn't get into it. It was a lot of the same writing and humour that pushed me away from Family Guy after it was resurrected.

I don't watch every episode. Mostly, I watch when there are no new Family Guy episodes. My favorite character is probably Jeff.

I've been a fan since the beginning.
At first it was more structured than Family Guy but they do go off the rails more now.
Most episodes are good, some aren't as good but there are still a few laughs to be had.

All of the characters are wonderfully flawed and so are the supporting characters.
I love the passive\aggressive banter of the gay newscasters when talk to each other.
Patrick Stewart has way too much fun playing Bullock.
We all know a Jeff.

The post-apocalypse episode with Francie dating Jesus was crazy.
The Stan cyborg from the future with the Mexican-Canadian accent, nuts.
Francie's back story is just weird and she was a total 80's groupie girl before Stan.
F*ck Klaus.
Haley can be a bit one note but in last nights episode she ran by naked screaming "racoons stole my penis!" because of an escalating dare contest with Klaus. So she has her moments.

I found it to be a completely different show where most of the humor comes from the characters growing increasingly weirder and put into bizarre situations. Family Guy just does random shit and relies on shock humor.

I think it was a great show its first five to seven seasons, then it kinda went off the rails.
