Concerns about the new ST

any true Star Trek fan would like Enterprise. You're probably one of those people complain about the theme song to because it's different and you can't appreciate something unique like that. It's actually a pretty good song and it fits nicely in the show. Enterprise started off slow but gets better as it goes along... And by the time we get to season three and four it was absolutely brilliant. It's the equal if any Trek

That song is a matter of taste. I think it's horrible, like from some cheesy teen drama. Yep, Enterprise started slow, but there is no room for that in modern tv. Series will be axed quickly if it's not good from the start (people will abandon it)

ST should be at LEAST 22 episodes a season. 13 is not enough.

Also, they better not use this as a vehicle to push a radical agenda by making "LGBT" characters specifically just to say they have them. I remember one thing in DS9 where there was sort of a lesbian moment, but I think it had to do with a past trill relationship which was heterosexual. Besides for that I don't think there is very much of that. They could've done that on Enterprise, and they didn't. Why does it have to be done now? SO we can push a certain agenda that is not present in either the new movies, or any of the other movies or shows? Rather absurd.

Also, I hope the rumors that it takes place between TOS and TNG isn't true. It would make it nearly impossible for any guest stars from the newer series, and for that reason alone in feeling a connective tissue to past series it shouldn't be so. Set it after Voyager/Nemesis. Since characters might age slower due to the longer life-spans maybe jump ahead like 30 years instead of 15, but that would be best.
I don't want any issue awkwardly included, sure. But if they can include it and make it mesh smoothly with the overall story, then there can be no objection to that. It respects the issue, it respects the audience.

You can get a guest star from other series playing all sorts of characters. Tim Russ played a mercenary type, he played a Klingon mercenary, a B bridge officer and then went on to play Tuvok. Noone objected. You can bring relatives of different characters on as well. But they should do what TNG did in the first few seasons; little to no direct reference to any other series. Allow the series to be a series in its own right.

Alot of these new series do 13 episodes. Allows attention to detail that would not otherwise occur. It's always agony to wait almost a year for something you like. But that won't undermine the show; rather it'll enhance its prestige and have people begging for more.

Bottom line is that if I don't like it -- which I might not -- I'll simply step aside from it.

Spock, McCoy, Sarek and Spock all appeared on TNG.
Picard, Lwaxana Troi and Q all appeared on DS9, as well as a passel of classic series Klingons.
Riker, Q, Troi and Barclay all appeared on Voyager.
Riker and Troi appeared on Enterprise, as well as an ancestor of Soong..
Janeway and a different EMH had cameos in TNG movies.
Guest appearances from characters from others series have happened fairly often.

And Quark on TNG and VOY, Bashir on TNG, Tom Riker on DS9...the list goes on and on. :)

Don't forget Scotty! He had a very memorable two-episode arc on TNG.

But anyway, yeah.... the other guy who said the other shows didn't do it must not be watching. I think most fans love the occasional inclusion of a past character. It connects the larger Universe, and these are usually good episodes.

Star Trek Online has brought back a plethora of familiar people to voice their characters in the 25th Century (and now 23rd for Agents of Yesterday) carrying on the 'crossover guest' tradition

A two-episode arc? I remember "Relics", but no second episode...
I misremembered. Whatever. It was a good episode.

It's just too bad STO was a dreadful game. When I played it in BETA I was SO bored. When I played SWG I was captivated at first.

I'm just giving an example, because a 26 episode show will NOT have a $5 million per episode budget, but a 13 episode series just might.

As for the budget estimate, we've discussed this topic before here..and the closest comparison for a modern space opera is "The Expanse" which has a per episode budget of $5.4 million. Or it could be $5 or 6 million. Either way, you need to calm the Hell down.
I think that's a reasonable estimate. HBO gave Game of Thrones $5-6 million per episode in the first season, and that was a very unsure project. No one would have expected it to get as big as it did. Another example is The Expanse, like you said. $5 million per episode for 13 episodes is likely.

Ahh yes. I tend to block Season 7 from my memory.
eh, what? I felt Season 2 was the weakest. wasn't the budget cut for it? no Dr. Crusher....
It's unfortunate TNG didn't get 8 seasons like they were thinking of doing. It's personally my favorite series although all are great in their own way
