"The Inner Light".

I consider it to be one of the four greatest episodes of Star Trek in existence.

^ Just out of curiosity, which are the other three?

Looks like we are going to have a run-off poll.

Nothing will ever surpass BOBW, Pt I for me. I can only imagine what it would have been like to see in its original airing.

It was incredible. I was sitting on the floor with my jaw hanging open when it ended. In those pre-internet days, I had no idea we were about to get the first cliffhanger in TNG's history. I thought everything would be wrapped up in one hour, so as it got closer to 11:30 (my local station ran TNG on Saturday nights at 10:30) I kept thinking, How are they going to finish this in time? And then that dramatic music as Riker gave the order to fire! Black screen and "To Be Continued"! I couldn't believe it!!

I'll never forget seeing it for the first time. That was the moment that sealed me as a TNG fan forever. And that's why it got my vote in this poll.

I'm listening to a very nice tribute video on Youtube to this episode right now (With the full Flute song) so I'm going to vote for it. The Inner Light. It's a shame we won't get anything like it on TV today.

I voted for Chain of Command II... I particularly enjoyed Captain Jellico in command... and Patrick Stewart's performance was the best trek acting ever!

I've never really understood the appeal of The Inner Light. I mean, it's an interesting concept, and the ending is pretty powerful, but I've always found the middle 30 minutes of it wretchedly boring. I always feel I've missed an important punchline when I see how popular it is with so many other fans.

My vote goes to AGT as my favourite. Dunno if it's the best, but it's certainly the one I rewatch most often, and I enjoy it every time.

"The Best of Both Worlds, Part I", as my two other 10/10 rated episodes, "The Measure of a Man" and "Tapestry" aren't on the list!

To each their own. IMHO "The City on the Edge of Forever" is among the two or three most overrated Trek episodes in existence. Nothing appeals to everyone.

^ Just out of curiosity, which are the other three?
TOS's "Balance of Terror", DS9's "Duet" and Voyager's "Year of Hell".

This episode are not my favourites, except for AGT.
So... All Good Things. The best finale ever.

Inner Light I think is one of the best sci-fi Trek episodes ever, clearly so, but I don't vote for it because it is such an inclusive story, if I'm voting best overall I want to vote for one that has most of the crew in it.

Kinda peeved that Shades of Gray didn't make the cut. Oh well, Best of Both Worlds, Part I will have to suffice.

BEST. EPISODE. EVER.

People,

Well, for me it was between Best of Both Worlds, Chain of Command, and All Good Things. All three have all the trappings of the best of what TNG had to offer. I figured BOBW is going to win the poll, so I chose AGT as it is a great finale and bookend for the series.

It works on a number of levels. Q's proclamation that the trial never ended at Farpoint has always been one of my favorite twists. And it was just plain fun to see the three Enterprise crews working together despite being separated by the gulf of time.
