Bar 'n' Grill - Part II

Hey all,

I'm done with school for the next month. I had my last final today and I felt confident when I was done. I then went to go see Narnia today and that was a beautiful movie. The music was great, the visuals were supurb, and the actors and actresses did a great job.

I'm not going to be around at all until tuesday night. I'm going up to Reno Nevada tomarrow for some Skiing (Maybe depending on the snow) and maybe even gambling for the first time. Hope everyone has a great weekend. :)

Blade Runner, I love that dialogue between O'Brien and Bashir that you quoted. Probably the best example of male bonding of all of Star Trek. It's a great example of a strong bond of friendship, but O'Brien doesn't want to hurt his manly pride by admitting feelings of fondness....rather he "doesn't hate" Bashir anymore... Pretty good stuff.

Have a good time tomalak! :)

So I was wondering something. What's everyone doing the the holidays?

Our whole software department is closing down for a week (between x-mas and new years) so that should be fun. Anyway... I'll be spending x-mas at home. We're having a dinner thingy (me, my g/f, my folks, my bro and his wife). During the week me and my g/f might do a Lord of the Rings marathon, and then most likely on thursday before new years we're gonna go to our little cabin in the mounts with a couple of friends. That should be fun.... I probably won't be able to go cross-country skiing (which is so much fun) cos of my recently broken finger, but we should still have a blast.

^ I hope everyone has a great holiday. I'll be spending time with my family and girlfriend. Just a nice, cosy family Christmas. Lots of DVD watching, food and drink.

I like the idea of a Rings marathon BigFoot. I may copy you on that... or have a Star Wars marathon. ;)

Lol, BigFoot - I'm also planning an LOTR Extended Edition marathon with a couple of similarly dedicated friends! :D Hope you have fun at the cabin in the mountains, that sounds beautiful!!

Yeah, I was thinking of doing a Star Wars marathon, but then I decided on LOTR instead. I think it's partially due to the sheer length of all the LOTR (EE) movies. :)

Hehe, we should get a few more people on the LOTR marathon bandwagon. :D And thanks, I'm sure we'll have tons of fun. And it is quite beatiful, especially in the winter when everything is covered with snow. It's so peaceful outside. :)

^ Sounds nice as long as it's not like the Evil Dead cabin in the woods. :p

*grabs a bottle of Kanar*

Anybody like a glass? :D

Bleh! Someone just *had* to go and start talking about the stupid holidays.

Jeez, this is hard. :(

Basically, I will be doing absolutely nothing. I don't have any real family, and no friends close enough to ask me to do anything. So I will probably spend it at home, pretending it's not happening and wishing the whole damn thing was overwith already.

Hope you guys have a great time though.

^ Ah, I feel really bad now. :( If I lived nearer I'd invite you to partake in my Rings marathon. :D Here, have a large glass of Kanar.

BigFoot - Well basically... a couple of friends go to stay at a cabin in the woods and end up awakening an ancient evil which picks them off one by one. There's also Evil Dead 2 and Evil Dead 3: Armies of Darkness. They're real fun films. Loads of gore, but with a great sense of humour and they are also quite cheesy. My fave is number three.

Just don't watch them before you go off on your little trip... ;)

Damn. I'm sorry to hear that.

Half my family is in Iran and the other half pretends I don't exist probably because of being Iranian. Some members of the family had seen me when I was a baby and then next time at my mother's wake when I was 18, so they didn't even recognize me and I certainly didn't recognize them.

But I have my father, my brother, and that's it for family. Sometimes my grandmother and uncle visit from Iran.

There are times I get asked if my family celebrates Christmas. I don't know if I do celebrate "Christmas" but I don't have a problem in celebrating a day where people are kind to each other... even though it's too bad only one day out of 365 can be set for it.

If i am on here on my 21st birthday, Vash, shoot me. Most of you don't know that my birthday is on New Year's, so if i am here, i definately have no life.

I used to feel young when I moderated TOS. I was 23 and the people I was warning were 43. Here I feel old. :p

It must be cool to have your birthday on New Year's.

Enjoy 21, it's a good age. You're an adult but still without as many of the responsibilities or expectations. 26, OTOH...

Thanks, Old Man. Still and all, i better not be here on my birthday. Of course, i do expect a birthday thread for me at the AL. :vulcan:

^^
I would hope that you are not here on your 21st Birthday! Go out and have some fun...you only turn 21 once. :)

^^^ Shameless McBundy - heh, drunken posts are fun! Please do send us one! :D

This Christmas, I shall be mostly visiting crazy family, having crazy family visit us, eating lots of food, and hanging out with the friends I temporarily have before they all go back to uni again ... :( It's all great and that :), am just too aware that January is going to suck, especially if the job hunt continues to be unsuccessful.

Oh yeah - on the 30th, am going to a friend's fancy-dress party (nothing big, just at his house), and am stuck for ideas about outfit! Was going to go as Princess Leia in her Hoth outfit, but it's a bit boring really ... but Gibraltar is RUBBISH when it comes to cool novelty shops and stuff. So if anyone has any ideas about a cool geeky outfit that can be put together out of normal stuff ... would be greatly appreciated! :)

*offers bottle of kanar*

I agree that the ideals surrounding Christmas should be applied year round. These days, alot of times they are not even applied at Christmas, unfortunately. :(

I'm sorry your family is so disbursed...and that there are difficulties surrounding you descent. What a bummer. :(

I don't have much family either...and those that are around are so self-centered that they don't care about anyone but themselves.

Sort of makes this time of year really difficult.

Bleh. :(
