Ash vs Evil Dead (new tv series)

Thanks for the distinction. (I haven't seen the films)

So when Ash cut off his hand, it was to prevent the possession from spreading like an infection?

ETA: Saw Bruce and Lucy on the Colbert show tonight. Lucy had Bruce put on his glasses and do his Colbert impersonation. :bolian:

Speaking of Bruce's sartorial style... loved his color choice of jacket, but even more his choice of socks and shoes! :guffaw:

I was thinking of you when I saw Colbert. :)

As to Ash and his hand, it's a classic Bruce scene but I don't think it was because it was spreading but simply because his hand became possessed and started attacking him.

Here's the scene courtesy of Turner Classic Movies!

^ She'll bounce back! Ash did.
Ash is a mess. :rommie:

I mean that while the Deadites ruined his life, he still stepped up the task of killing them. Kelly will likely do the same.
Oh, yes, undoubtedly.

After last week's episode, Pablo is growing on me. The jury is still out on Kelly.
I'm loving the entire cast. I can't wait until they're all together.

Holy crap. This is the most surprising thing in the whole thread. With the way you've been dumping piles of links in this thread, I figured you were the hardest of hardcore fans.

Watch the damn movies, they're great!!!

I actually haven't seen II in a while so I need to rectify that but I saw the first one recently. I think the first is a bit just more mean/nasty than the other ones. I could see skipping that and just starting with Evil Dead II.

Yeah, I've never watched the first one. I've seen Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness several times, but I have no interest in ever seeing the original.

*Goes off to find video on YouTube*

Bruce is just... No words! I barely recognized Lucy. It's been a while since she went blonde though.

Didn't she actually "start" as an "ash" (no pun intended) blonde? :vulcan:

I remember watching nuBSG and wondering "which character" this Lawless woman was playing, since I'd never seen Xena and all I knew was the deep brown locks from the XWP posters in the stores.

I laughed last night when Colbert teased them about looking so elegant when in fact they were representing a TV series that had them bathed in blood on a regular basis.

Here's the end of the interview. (They skipped the part where he talked about the "viscera" cannon that shoots brains and things.)

Bruce does his Colbert imitation.

Believe it or not... I am NOT a horror fan. :alienblush:

I caught wind of this show when I was surveying the net for Xena reboot news. Since I loved Autolycus and (naturally) Xena, I was intrigued to listen to them push this show. I actually didn't sign up for Starz until after reading some reviews of the pilot on 10/31. ;)

I basically did a similar thing with Xena:WP 5 years ago. I listened to people on the Voyager board praise it and spent a summer watching youtube music vids of the show and youtube Lucy/Renee convention reminisces before I decided to buy the series. :vulcan: I never regretted it. (Came close to regretting it during "Married with Fishsticks" :p )

So far, I'm loving this new show, which proves AvED is not just a LL obsession for me since she's only been in 1 scene so far.

And no matter what actor/actress I'm currently "obsessed with, if I don't like the show, I can't keep watching. :klingon:

For instance, I didn't care if Kate Mulgrew was in "The Black Donellys" or "Mercy". If the show doesn't grab me I can't keep watching. Of course, 2 of the stars of "Mercy" would later grab me in "Orange is the new Black" (Taylor and Kate) and refuse to let go! :p

Colbert's interview included a scene from (?) this week's show, when all 5 cross paths. :bolian:

I don't know the exact shade but I do know she is a natural blonde. When I first started watching Xena I didn't know that. Personally I think the dark hair (either raven or the lighter brown) really suits her. It sets off her eyes.

I had heard of Lucy and Xena over the years but never gave it much thought. My introduction to Xena was through YouTube. I came across a clip of "Day In The Life" and was intrigued. I did some reading and found out that it was set in Ancient Greece. I've always been fascinated by the mythology of the Gods, Goddesses, and various creatures. Plus a strong female lead who kicks ass!? Sign me up!

It's been a joyous ride ever since. I only wish I had watched it during it's run. But back then I wasn't even aware of it. Stupid child that I was!

Another great one. Loved the demon design, really well executed and really creepy. Plus: Finally more of Lucy. "Team Ghostbeaters!"

"I'm an alone wolf."

Agree with the "more Lucy" comment... but can't wait till next week when she finally meets up with Fisher.

Lets hope Ruby never tells Kelly what she did to dear old dad.

I never realized Starz releases AvED on line before the 9pm show time. :bolian:

I wish I could remember it off the top of my head, but I loved Ash's line about how you can't trust cops. The actual joke part of it wasn't too funny, but just the way Bruce Campbell delivered it, he can make anything hilarious.

The opening gave me flashbacks of all the "evil Xena" flashbacks.

It's kind of funny that her name is Ruby and she drives a bright red car. Nice car btw.

Ash might be good with the boomstick but he's not one for the logic, is he? That demon was a LOT worse than a Deadite!

^^ And it looks like it will be making a reappearance.

I never realized Starz releases AvED on line before the 9pm show time. :bolian:
Yeah, I discovered that it's on On Demand earlier in the day, too.

Ash is so incredibly stupid it's hilarious. What an amazing plan. Summon the wimpiest demon you can find and ask them how to "undo" the Deadite spell. Yeah, nothing can go wrong there. :rommie: Pablo is the voice of reason, but Ash can always manage to get him pumped up.

Looks like Fisher is totally doomed. No, wait, Ruby will save her. Hopefully next week the entire cast will be together.

Awesome design and effect on the new Kandarian, but then this thing was summoned directly instead of taking a host like the others.

I love the new book prop, it looks like there's something actually printed on every page as they flicked through it. Good tie in merchandising of they sell replica's.

I'm just surprised Ash of all people didn't think to dismember the guy after the glassing, or a call out to the AoD 'get an axe' thing.

Not sure what it was doing to them, with Pablo it was just rupturing blood vessels, but with Ash it was looking for something?

Eh, they're really building Lucy's storyline up slowly. Interesting that she knows about the book, could she be related to Knowby? and was she at the cabin to have recovered the Kandarian knife?

And it would have been very useful to know the mouth in the book and swallow them back again earlier.

She doesn't just know about the book, somehow she's connected to it. Did you notice how she sped up when Ash & the book store owner opened it?

Speaking of clueless, did Ash ever wonder why the book store owner made finding his way to hell his life's work???

Building slowly sure works better when you don't binge everything in one sitting. ;)

Yeah, only the reboot ever had people react to it's presence like that. The ritual of it's creation and a lot of the pages resemble the films Naturom Demonto as well. And, no one has said it's name yet...

That guy was creepy alright, and it's another hint that there a lot more groups or types of people out there connected to all this. Although he did seem to be concerned with knowledge, not evil or crazy. I think he was just too far into his books that he really wanted to talk to a demon regardless.

So, the Old Ones were the demons, the Dark Ones where their half demon subordinates. Half human, so...ew. But it does allow for some of them having part demon bloodlines.

I wonder if Ruby is a villain? She seemed to take pleasure in making that Deadite suffer. Ash would have killed it as quick as he could. She wants the book. But why does she want it?
