Spoilers Arrow - Season 6

At this point, the only reason I really care about the season finale, is to see this wrapped up and move on.

I wasn't a big fan of season 4, but that's starting to look better than this now.....

I feel the same way. How are they going to wrap this all up in an hour and not make it feel rushed. Also Diaz has kind if become a cartoon villain. I miss Adrian Chase.

I have no problems with the other heroes in the Arrowverse not being around to help combat Diaz since the feces is hitting the fan everywhere, not just in Star City.

I also see a certain logic in Olly going to the one FBI agent that's been after him all season long. Like the "turning of Anatoly", its a play that Diaz wouldn't have seen coming.

Will
the sky turn purple over Star City since the Enlightenment has begun? After all, the two shows are happening concurrently, right?

Putting Arrow after Legends on Mondays seems tonally incongruous, the goofiest show followed by the darkest show. Though no more so than Flash and Black Lightning on Tuesdays, I guess.

4x23...

The episode title ("Life Sentence") gave away the deal Ollie made.

And now that he's finally confessed everything to the public, where do they go from here?

Well, Diggle has that costume now...

I guess the news a few weeks ago that Paul Blackthorne wouldn't be returning was kind of a tipoff as to Quentin's fate, although it was possible he could've survived and retired or something. But it's a shame Sara didn't show up a couple of hours earlier, or she could've taken him in the jump ship and had Gideon heal him.

So... it looks like next season's villains are a group called the Longbow Hunters. Apparently, in the comics, they're a team of villains including Richard Dragon (the basis for Ricardo Diaz), Count Vertigo, Brick, someone named Red Dart, and... Killer Moth. I'm boggled by the prospect of potentially getting to see Killer Moth, whose only prior live-action appearance was in the unaired 1967 presentation film made by the Batman producers to sell the new Batgirl character to network executives.

Although they said there were only three Longbow Hunters, I think, with Diaz making four, so it wouldn't necessarily be the whole group. The Arrowverse villain who called himself Count Vertigo is dead, but his successor, Werner "Vertigo" Zytle (Peter Stormare), is still alive. And Brick appeared in seasons 3 & 4 played by Vinnie Jones. It'd be interesting to get both of those notable actors back on the show, assuming it could get them back rather than coming up with replacement characters. As for Red Dart, the name has been used by several Green Arrow adversaries in different DC continuities, the modern one being a woman whose real name is unknown.

The Flash- Hey prison's isn't so bad. I was able to zip in and zip out unnoticed.

Arrow- Just a reminder. Superspeed. I don't have it.

Amell told EW at the upfront's some big news

Batwoman and Gotham City confirmed for next season's crossover event. First ever live action portrayal of Bat Woman too.

CW president Mark Pedowitz confirmed that introducing Batwoman marks the first time the character will appear "on any screen." The character will be "fighting alongside" The CW's heroes, Amell said, with the crossover airing in December. Additional details, including a character description for The CW character or actress, were not immediately available.

Mark pedowitz should check Wikipedia if nothing else as Batwoman has appeared in some of the animated stories.

After tonight my prediction for next season is Diaz still runs loose and the fbi needs Oliver (who miraculously avoids getting shanked in prison) to stop him.

He survived Lian Yu, Hong Kong, Russia, the League of Assassins, and 6 years fighting crime on the violent streets of Star City. Supermax prison? He'll hardly break a sweat.

A few years back, they were developing a Green Arrow movie based on a storyline where Oliver was in a supermax prison and had to break out or something. I've seen someone speculate that the show could do a version of that story in season 7.

Anyway, it's surprising that they're keeping Diaz on the board for next season. While Kirk Acevedo is a fine actor, the critical and audience response to the Diaz character seemed lukewarm, and he did kind of go off the rails toward the end there, turning from a devious mastermind into a one-note, explosively murderous thug. Teaming him with the Longbow Hunters would change things up a bit -- maybe a couple of them are strong enough to hold him in check -- but that would also feel kind of like a rehash of the Cayden James Legion of Doom.

I know cool hand to hand combat is a staple of the show but OIlie really should have just shot an arrow through Diaz's heart right away! I am a little disappointed that Diaz is still around to cause trouble next season because I was really hoping he would go away. Plus, Diaz sticking around makes the finale a bit of a hollow victory.

I am also really curious what they do with the next season. Since Stephen Amell is still the lead, I am assuming we will get a big reset where somehow Ollie gets out of prison at the beginning of next season.

His preference these days is to avoid killing, even if the action choreography often suggests otherwise. Even aside from moral issues, taking Diaz alive and putting him on trial would make it easier to expose all his crimes and convict his accomplices. After all, they kept saying all season that the reason Diaz was able to get away with so much was because nobody in authority or the public knew he was a threat. So putting him on trial, exposing all his crimes to the public eye, would've been more effective at dismantling the last vestiges of his criminal operations than killing him would have. (And as a bonus, it would've overshadowed the farce of Oliver Queen's trial, which would come to be understood as merely part of Diaz's master plan.)

It's basically Diaz's own logic used against him. Diaz wanted to disgrace Oliver rather than kill him because that would more effectively strip him of power and avoid making him a martyr. By the same token, exposing and trying Diaz would do more to strip his criminal organization of power than just killing him would.

Some superheroes operate openly without secret identities. It's quite common in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ollie operating as the Green Arrow with everyone knowing that's who he is would be a change, but that's exactly what the show needs to keep it fresh. It would make him less Bruce Wayne and more Tony Stark.

Hmm... If Diggle starts wearing that suit Ollie gave him during the midseason interim, maybe we could end up with a status quo whereby Team Arrow is acting officially on behalf of the government as a peacekeeping force in Star City. After all, the entire police force is now dismantled, and the FBI is staying around to take care of things. Maybe we could see the team working with the FBI and/or ARGUS as a sort of SWAT team. That would certainly be an interesting change. (Though if so, I really hope their FBI contact isn't Samanda Watson. I dislike both the character and the actress.)

Well that was a decent finale to a lackluster season, Oliver's goodbyes with everyone were nice, I'm gonna miss Quentin even though he didn't really have much of a relevant role anymore on the show, and the setup for next season in intriguing.

Not that keen on Diaz sticking around though, hope they find a way to make him interesting, and being a part of a team of equals could be a new take, but that would go against the only thing he's been doing this season, trying to climb over everybody. He clearly doesn't play well with others and as the main villain he's been pretty crap, so I'm skeptical they can pull this off, but we'll see... if they see it doesn't work they can always get rid of him in episode 1. ;)

I am however very curious about next season, it will be interesting to see where they take Oliver next, and what the new showrunner will bring to the table. Ollie's clearly not gonna spend the entire season in jail, but Green Arrow's identity is out of the bag and can't be put back. So either he'll be released legally (if saving a city and the world (on several occasions!) doesn't merit a pardon I don't know what does), or they'll do a version of that scrapped "Escape from SuperMax" movie which I would frankly prefer because that was a really interesting premise, as I recall it was supposed to be about...
Oliver encountering people who he put away, realizing some of them we're sort of alright and victims of circumstance, and teaming up with them to shut down a corrupt prison. And then he can get released legally. :D

Alternatively, Lyla and Diggle could always recruit him for Suicide Squad... :techman:

This episode was like a tale of two halves. The first half was great with the action and team commaderie and the musical score was great. Then we got to the second half and things became predictable and unsatisfying. Quentin's death was upsetting, Sara being there and having no scenes with her father felt like a waste, and the fact that Diaz is still living is terrible. Now we have to deal with another season with this guy? Not sure I'm looking forward to that.

Still there was a lot to like here in a season that felt way too long. Also Rene is really becoming an awesome character. I know people hate the new team arrow, but the work done with Rene this season might have been its only saving grace. The call to his daughter was really emotional.

Sara being there and having no scenes with her father felt like a waste

On the one hand, I agree that Sara could've used more screen time. On the other hand, she couldn't show up until after the action, or she could've brought in the Legends and the Waverider to fix everything. So they couldn't really do more with her. But at least she got to meet Laurel-2 at last and we got to see what that was like. Good to get confirmation that she already knew about Black Siren, which is only logical given that she was in Star City between seasons.

Speaking of Black Siren, I wonder if she's going to be part of the team next season. Having two sonic screamers (or whatever the generic name for that power set is) on the same team seems a bit redundant, but hey, the team's had two archers at the same time before, so what the hey. After Canary and Siren used their respective cries consecutively, it got me wondering what would happen if they both screamed at the same thing simultaneously. Maybe we'll find out next season.

I think most of the season was terrible, but, I thought the finale was great.

I liked that there was a good reason why Ollie didn't just shoot him. He HAD to get close to duplicate the drive. If he shot Diaz and it wasn't a killing blow, Diaz might've fled.

I was sadden by Quetin's end, but, it was well handled I thought.

In a different show, on a different network, this would've been a fascinating SERIES finale. But, again, this show isn't going to seriously ruminate on vigilantism, so... But, wow, what would a wrap up that would've been...

ANYWAY, a small part of me would love it if Ollie's out of prison was having to be a member of the Suicide Squad... but, yeah, that "movie" franchise won't make that possible.
