Agents of SHIELD. Season 1 Discussion Thread

Please, no. I am so sick of the cliched TV assumption that any given scientist can be an expert in every branch of science at once.
I'm pretty sure that's far more prevalent in the comics than in TV or pretty much any other medium. Just in the Marvel universe alone you have characters like Reed Richards, Hank Pym, Doctor Doom, Beast, Mr. Sinister, Bruce Banner, Tony Stark, and even friggin' Peter Parker, all off the top of my head.

It's a commonly abused trope in tv/movies as well.

Nerd/Nerdette shipping, it would be too gay for broadcast.
What? You do realize we've had gay characters on network shows for quite a while now.

Sorry, I had a Guy Gardener moment. That was just a joke about how Nerd is so emasculated that a Nerd/Nerdette 'ship would be lesbian. But in any event the gay characters very rarely have relationships.

Hank Pym is the Scientist Supreme.
I didn't vote for him.

Who's idea was it to create the concept of a "Scientist Supreme"?

Please tell me that's not an official title in the MU nowadays akin to Sorcerer Supreme held by Dr. Strange in the past and last i heard passed onto some Voodoo guy a few years back.

But i agree with others that having one supergenius who's equally capable in all fields of science would just be lame.. part of the budding charm of the duo is that they compliment each other and they're rarely mentioned as one person (which i kind of find funny when they're names are mashed together).

Dr. Strange is Sorcerer Supreme again. And, yes, Eternity proclaimed Pym Scientist Supreme. There were reasons why it wasn't Richards or Stark, but I don't recall them.

Really? Damn.. i knew why i quit reading comics some years ago (though Stark is more of an engineer than a Scientist, surprised Richards was not chosen).

As to the continuing arc of What Happened to Coulson? It's hard to believe that anyone was ever interested, but the news that he went to Heaven inspires two thoughts. The writers are shameless hacks. And Heaven has no standards for entry at all.
Or he lied to that guy to convince him to accept his fate with some dignity and without taking anyone else out with him.

The accusation in the comic book was that Hank had had another mental breakdown and imagined it which at the time seemed 50/50.

Stj ,I've been watching Blossom and Sheldon Cooper do the mating dance all day long.

I also have three seasons of the Lair on my hard drive I'm afraid to watch.

..... :wtf:

Remember when the WB wouldn't let Joss say the word "lesbian" so Willow and Tara had to use terms like "we cast spells together".

If you're going to lie, tell a satisfying one. Coulson could have bet his card collection the guy would have been pleased to hear Jesus was waiting. Also, none of the others took anyone else "out" with them and it's not at all clear why this one would either. A hazmat suit was all that was needed.
