DC to REBOOT???

Considering that Superman seems to be a "Project" of some kind in the Flashpoint reality I can see him being easily "relaunched" due to that. Also in the normal universe Paul Cornell had the Omega Doomsday or whatever it's called
tear Superman apart literally
in last month's issue of Action Comics.

You should go back and look at that issue again. That's not what happened.

That's The Eradicator being torn apart.

RIGHT? It's INSANE. I don't understand why the characters just don't turn to him and go, "Really, Alan? You're taking this Green Lantern thing a little bit to seriously. You look like an idiot. Even your first costume was better. Go change. Now. You fucking moron."

Someone thought it was a GOOD idea....

^WTH

Yeah, they fucked around with Alan Scott so-o-o much over the years.

Have you seen him recently? He's basically wearing a costume that LOOKS like a Lantern. I'll see if I can find a picture. It looks fucking ridiculous.

That sounds like pretty much his Kingdom Come outfit.

You've seen the pic. It doesn't look or sound like his Kingdom Come outfit.

I sure hope those forearms are his traditional billowy sleeves. Otherwise he's built like Popeye.

And what are those thin little brace thingies that extend from his wrists to his upper arms? It looks like he can't bend his elbows.

I just had this weird image of Atrocitus and Sinestro duking it out with Alan (or Hal) and the bystanders going "red? yellow? green? Is it safe to cross yet?"

Yeah, the Kingdom Come armor is pretty awesome (if best in small doses). This... monstrosity is just BAD.

Not helped by what I recall the excuse being, that it's essentially a walking iron lung because of some terrible injury. Which for a guy who (last I heard) is composed entirely of green magical energy held together by force of will, seems really ridiculous.

I guess that makes a certain amount of sense, but you would think with all of the futuristic stuff in the DCU that they could have come up with something less awkward looking.

Iron Lantern.

As I understand it, the writer either forgot or didn't know that, so that had to then write some lash-up to explain why an energy being has a broken back...

^Ah yes, the Demon in a bunt cake storyline.

Since there will now be a Red Lantern comic, does that mean our universe is merging with the Walternate universe?

DC editorial has no editorial policy. The writers have to do their own research. The writer for that comic probably didn't do his homework.

As long as they're the JSA, they're not "Generic Old Guys".

If they're not the heros of the "Golden Age," they're not the JSA - therefore, Generic Old Guys.

And thankfully, retired by DC rather than reimagined...for now.
I guess that depends on how you define "the Golden Age". Is it the characters, the time they were published or the style of storytelling. To me it's the characters. If their adventures take place/start in the 40s, the 200s0 or any era in between they're still the heroes of the Golden Age.
