Poor Jeri Ryan

They're a couple of professional actors. They're not paid to like each other. I daresay there have been many on-screen pairings that were purely fictional. They're paid to turn up at conventions so what you get there is an act too.

So true. I think I read somewhere that Mulgrew commented on "learning how to do Mulgrew" at conventions. With that in mind, it might just be that some of the actors play up some "animosities" just to make themselves more interesting, doesn't it? I'm not saying that they do, but it is a possibility.

^^Then that makes Mulgrew even more shallow.

They also don't pay anybody to come to work and be nasty to their co-workers either. It's the reason why most companies have a Human Resources Department.
Sounds like some are trying to justify harrassment in the work place.:wtf:

^ I'm not sure bringing HR into this is a good idea. In most companies giving someone a position because of their looks and age is considered discrmination and actionable by HR. In Hollywood however, favoring one actor over another based on youth or their look is a completely accepted practice. They way the Voyager show was run would not have been able to happen in your average company with an HR department.

Personally I could care less if Mulgrew and Ryan were beer buddies or had regular cat fights on the lot. Either way they both have moved on so good for them.

My point was, on the job harrassment is unacceptable and unprofessional no matter what the job is. Nobody wants to work under those conditions no matter how much they get paid for it.

Which means Ryan must be quite the masochist to put up with it all OR things weren't as bad as they're sometimes made out to be.

If things were really so bad I'm sure Braga would have stepped in - they were seeing each other after all.

...or you endure it for the sake of being a single parent and the child she had to support by herself.

I don't think she 'endured' anything. It was a gig like any other gig. You like some people you don't like others. You work together because you're professionals. I'm sure she's worked with more objectionable people without fuss. In fact I don't think she's ever made a fuss, so what's your beef? If you don't like one actor then give a better reason than she was 'nasty' to another one because that just doesn't wash, especially from all the 'evidence' I've read in this thread.

What, being nasty to someone for no good reason isn't enough? Is that how people are supposed to treat each other? Is "Do unto others as you would have done unto you" no longer being taught?

I guess respect must be out of fashion.

She's an actor. Making up a persona is what she does.
Off screen?

Sorry but I don't see you making Mulgrew look or sound any better. I see it as making her look even more shallow and a fraud. Even I don't think the woman is that bad.

Where exactly does Kate Mulgrew make up stories that make her look bad? I thought I'd read this entire thread, and I did read the entire interview linked a couple of pages back - so what have I missed?

This started over the comment of actors playing up anamosities to make themselves more interesting.

But...where can I see evidence of animosities being stirred up?

I really just don't understand this thread at all, and I'm assuming this is because I've missed something, so if you or somebody could point out what I've missed, Exodus, I would be grateful.

No, I'm sorry I can't.
This thread is 15 pages long and others have formed their own conclusions by reading it, so are for and some are against. You'll have to form your own gathered by what you know or believe. I can't fill in those blanks for you and I feel that's fair.

I will say from my own personal view point, that if no animosities were stirred up, this rumor wouldn't have gotten this far to our ears or lasted this long if there wasn't the slightest truth to it.
