Major League Baseball 2009

I'd be upset if you didn't and question your loyalty as a real Mets fan. :)

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw: I want Mr. Met's babies! They'd be so cute. :wtf: :wtf: :p

Speaking of babies, this was on my baby registry for my newborn.

Hands down, father of the year right here!!! :bolian:

Orlando Cabrera gets a hit! My hit streak is up to 6 now! Also picked the Pirates to win over Cincinnati (10-2)... I don't know why, but it was a great choice!

So after the first week of play or so, the best team in Major League Baseball, who can also claim the best offence in baseball so far is...

The Toronto Blue Jays.

Well, this won't last. ;) But I can hope!

I think everyone will be shocked when the Blue Jays and the Orioles are still in the hunt at the end of the season. They're playing a lot better than the Yankees in my opinion... and the Rays don't look so hot this year.

The Blue Jays might....MIGHT, be in it towards the end, however the Orioles don't have the pitching in either the rotation or bullpen to compete with the top teams in the division.

Honestly, its week 1. I don't look for anything that indicates a trend this season. I'll give it like a month...

^ The question for the Jays is consistency. Right now, we're getting good performance out of a number of rookies... Purcey, Romero and Richmond in the rotation, and Lind and Snider in the line-up. IF they can maintain some of the early promise they've shown, then the Jays could compete this year... but that's a big if.

Otherwise, it'll be up to Halladay and Listch plus the bullpen to keep things together on the pitching end, while Wells, Rios, Hill and Rolen will have to prop up the offence. I don't know if that'll be enough, but hey, it's April: I can dream big.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox have had the shittiest luck I have ever seen over the last three games. Every liner they hit is caught, and every bloop the opponent hit drops. And then of course they rally, so they are only one or two runs short when they loose.

LOVELY.

I wondered who got the Cubs luck this year....

I heard that when the Cubs played at the new Yankee Stadium, it freaked out Carlos Zambrano so much that he now wants a new park for the Cubs as well.

I don't know how realistic this would be, but I've thought for awhile now that one way they could actually get away with replacing Wrigley Field would be if the Cubs win the Series. Then they could just set the fans loose in Wrigley, and by the time they're through with the place, there won't be a piece of it left that's bigger than a matchstick.

If the Yankees miss the playoffs this year, all that means is another $300+ million to three players who don't deserve it... so Vladimir Guerrero, Jason Bay and Erik Bedard? :p

Jays pulled off a hell of a good win today. 8-6 over Minnesota, the clutch hitting finally came through at the end of the game, and B.J. Ryan looks dominant once again; hopefully he can keep that up. This kind of drawn out trench battle is exactly the sort of game they would have lost a year ago, so this is another encouraging sign.

Might be the Jays year in the east, because the Red Sox look like a lifeless fucking carcass. They can't pitch, field or hit, and its getting fucking embarrasing. :scream::mad:

Yeah. It would be nice if Lester could remember how to throw K's. That said, it's only Week 2. No need to panic about a pennant race just yet. ;)

Citi Field is finally open, too bad the Mets played like they were still at Shea.

I don't like the lack of four territory down the lines or the wacky variable height wall.

I was at a bar and saw that cat and everybody watching was cracking up. Sneaky bastard.

On a gloating note...

Braves (5-1)

Friggin' Red Sox game sucked me in tonight. Was going to just watch a couple innings before bed, and then it got interesting, and couldn't walk away. Kept doing the "one more inning" thing, and now it's 2am and the 11th inning, with no end in sight. Think I'm going to be a lil' late for work tomorrow morning :)

Bottom of the 11th with Paps coming on. Hopefully the 'pen can continue to be unhittable. Of course, it would've been even better if Dice-K had some control and this game was over a couple of hours ago.
