Yeah, but isn't college young enough, zenophite? Is 21 year old flesh too ancient? I mean, god damn. :alienblush: When the guy is 30 and the chick is 17, it's bordering on major squickiness. :guffaw: Better get Ali Larter into that nursing home soon. I hope Hayden doesn't have a daddy who owns a shotgun. If a 30 year had been sniffing around me at that age, my daddy would have chased him with his car.

hey, i've known a few girls who went to college at 17 ;)

21? that's practically like going to bingo-night at the seniors center...

say has anyone heard about the micah or monica characters? geez I hope they mostly got rid of them....

Re: HEROES 3x01 "Second Coming" and 3x02 "Butterfly Effect" Discuss/Gr

Micah and Monica are officially out of there. Too bad Maya and Mohinder aren't following them.

Didn't Kring consider using different characters after season one, but then decided against it when most of the original characters turned out to be extremely popular?

Yeah. Season two would have started with an entirely new cast but he changed his mind. I wonder how he would have done that? Have Peter really explode and kill off the entire main cast?

That would have been completely unexpected but a really bad idea. The producers did a good job casting for the series in season one for the most part. None of the cool characters like Nathan, Claire and Noah would be back and instead there's a chance of us getting a bunch of lamers like Alejandro and West as main characters. It's really hard for audiences to accept major cast changes things like that and showrunners usually mess up the show by doing it. I'm looking at you David E Kelley. It would have sucked.

Re: HEROES 3x01 "Second Coming" and 3x02 "Butterfly Effect" Discuss/Gr

Write out Matt, Mohinder, and Maya.
What?!? Matt has huge potential! Just because he was in a boring plotline so far is no reason to dump him.

Mo is the narrator and even tho he's a dope, he's worth keeping.

Maya, they can lose. Other than Maya, it looks to me like the cast is solid.

I would dearly love an episode focusing solely on Nathan/Peter, specifically on the "whys" of the shooting.
I already pretty much know why - what I said above - but by extension, we could get the explanation via a parallel situation in another alt-future episode where Peter maybe doesn't have the scar but is still a resentful, self-involved idiot who turns to violence to solve problems that are too emotionally overwhelming for him.

The problem with explanations is that they bog down the pace of the plot. A show like this needs to keep up a fast pace to be entertaining and keep people from being bored and changing the channel.

Looking at S2 in retrospect, what makes you so sure that it would have been a bad idea? What S2 needed was a new direction - not the same characters in the same recycled plots.

has anyone noticed that theyve done to Matt what they did to Sylar last season? separated him from the main cast by placing him in a foreign counttry where he'll probably meet a couple other supers(he's already met one) & probably has to try to get his way back to the US. Also they cant seem to let go of the "futue paintings" gimmick.

I really hope that for season 4 they get rid of the following:

future paintings
heroes from the future/time traveling
Hiro going on silly quests

Re: HEROES 3x01 "Second Coming" and 3x02 "Butterfly Effect" Discuss/Gr

Maya is going to become a villain.

Super powers are evil and sinful and she has to stop their proliferation no matter the cost and no matter the consequences. She could be damn fun if the writers really put their shoulder in on this girl.

However...

I couldn't believe her hair. On her head. I'd watched a bundle of season two for a primer before I waded into the new stuff. It's like I blinked and her homeless person/hunted across 6 countries living hand to mouth hair turned into supermodel hair for no reason at all.

She might as well have dyed it blue for all the uncontinuousness she jarred me with.

To be fair it looks like Matt's plot will somehow be involved with the world ripped in half main storyline. That already gives it more importance then season two's Slyar goes on the stupid road trip with his friends while screwing Maya plot. That storyline went absoultely NOWHERE until the last episode. :rommie:

Roger Ebert posted this on a blog about the lack irony being understood (it is a bit tangential to the rest of the blog):

Let me give another example of credulity. The following paragraph appeared this week in a New York Post review by Adam Buckman of the season premiere of "Heroes."

"This show, which was once so thrilling and fun, has become full of itself, its characters spouting crazy nonsense. Here's one I wish someone would translate for me: "There's a divinity that shapes our ends--rough hew them how we will," spouts the enigmatic industrialist Linderman played by Malcolm McDowell, who should win an Emmy for keeping a straight face while reciting these lines."

Perhaps McDowell kept a straight face because he knew he was quoting one of the most famous speeches in Hamlet. I don't expect everyone to have read Hamlet, but I would hope a New York critic might have run across it once or twice.

So the STARS of season two could've been Maya, Alejandro, Elle, Bob and emo flying stalker?????

Re: HEROES 3x01 "Second Coming" and 3x02 "Butterfly Effect" Discuss/Gr

Well, I didn't want to post immediately after the show because, like many people who did, I was on that "Heroes is back to season 1 greatness" high. But after three days of processing the episode in my head and sobering up, I've come to the conclusion that, while it was a definite improvement over season 2 (what isn't?), it still has a long way from being what it could be.

The Good: Finally! Real, remorseless villans. I hope they focus more on them than Sylar because it looks like they are on the way to defanging him.

Supers being...well..super. For the past two years whe had people talking about their abilites more than using them. In these two hours alone, we've seen people fly, display super strength, super speed, time travel, freeze powers, fire powers, teleportation, and wall climbing. I hope they keep that kind of momentum up. Not to the point that it's boring, but just enough to remind us. Which leads to my next good thing.

Incentive to use their powers. Let's face it, the villans who broke out of the Company became more organized in last half hour than the so called Heroes were able to do for the past two years. Heroes, Company, you have a common goal. Get organized and get after the Villans. No posturing.

I think I've outlined what I liked. Now for what I didn't.

The Bad.

Time Travel. ARRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHH! Does every season have to be about some impending doom in the future? I know it's an excuse for Hiro to use his abilities, but come on! Unless said impending doom actually plays out, this is getting to become laughably redundant. Who gives a flying flip about the future? There's a bunch of psychos with powers out there here and now. Priorities!

The not-so-secret secret formula. I know it's just a MacGuffin for Hiro and Ando to do yet another comedy relief laden buddy quest, but I'm sure I'm not the only one to figure out that, with Mohinder's breakthrough, that the "secret" formula is the means to give normal people super powers. Who has the other half? Why do they want it? WHO CARES? Remember? Psychotic supervillans running loose? Focus on the ones who do have the abilities and not on those who might!

Woe is me!! Yeah. It's not as bad as the last two years, but I wanted to put a boot in Claire's pretty little face every timne she whined about not feeling anything (I probably wouldn't feel guilty about it since she wouldn't feel it).

Well, that's pretty much my assement. I'll be tuning in due to some of the new plot twists. Just keep the Time Travel to a minimum and up the ante in the present with the new villans.

Re: HEROES 3x01 "Second Coming" and 3x02 "Butterfly Effect" Discuss/Gr

Yeah the "pity me because I'm immortal, won't age and can't die" routine has got to go. That and the general "I hate the fact that I have super-powers" cliche.

Re: HEROES 3x01 "Second Coming" and 3x02 "Butterfly Effect" Discuss/Gr

Never mind that, Claire looks hot and bad-ass in the future!

:D

Re: HEROES 3x01 "Second Coming" and 3x02 "Butterfly Effect" Discuss/Gr

The episodes were good and despite some flaws that have already been mentioned season 3 looks like it will be interesting.

I don't get all the Maya hate. Must be the new fashionable thing to do.

Anyway, here's some delicious brain for you

The only one that should hate her superpowers is Maya, since as of right now it seems to only exist to kill people. Ted's power also killed people, but that was because he didn't know how to use or control it.

Of course, in a battle of superpowered people, Nathan and Claire aren't going to be very useful.

Re: HEROES 3x01 "Second Coming" and 3x02 "Butterfly Effect" Discuss/Gr

- So the French Flash chic shows up how? She knows to be there at that exact moment the safe is open how?
You wouldn't question if you kept up with the online novels

.... Really though, read up on the novels!

Why can't it be explained on the show? Rememeber back before the internet when television shows did just that? Quality shows on basic and premium cable channels still do that. It's network shows desperate for a gimmick to retain viewers that does stuff like this. Even nowadays, not everyone owns a computer. Networks bleed viewers by depriving them of key information vital to shows plot. And they wonder why ratings are dropping.

Re: HEROES 3x01 "Second Coming" and 3x02 "Butterfly Effect" Discuss/Gr

Come on guys, we are still at the beginning of the season. Lots of time for them to explain all sorts of things.

Just because something was explained in an online novel doesn't mean they will not bother explaining it on screen too.

I swear, nobody has patience to wait and see how things will unfold in a show these days...
