Diet & Fitness Support Thread

Not showing off, bro. Just lettin' you know, that's all.

We're in the same boat, you and me - love lifting, being strong.

I want KFC SO bad, but I'm continuing to resist.
You don't have to deny yourself. You can treat yourself to KFC once in a while without feeling guilty just so long as you don't make it something you eat on a daily basis.
Good advice, thank you :). I've only just begun this more healthy lifestyle, and I'd like to give myself a little time to get used to it. I can see myself EASILY falling back into my old pattern of only eating delivery, snacks from the corner store, or enormous sandwiches if I don't use a bit of willpower for the early stages here. Don't know if that makes sense, but there you go.

I was just kidding. My sarcasm isn't running at 100% tonight.

Right on - as I discovered the hard way, sarcasm is one thing that doesn't translate over the internet too well. :)

I should also note that my purchase is for about 10 weeks worth of stuff.

Good call. I think the most I've ever spent at one time is about $150, and that was only because I wanted to get a better free gift with my purchase.

Granted, I usually only buy for about a month at a time.

Hey gang, I'm going to try to get back on the fitness horse again. Lots of incentive this summer to shed some pounds ... We've got the little one in daycare two days a week. We're walking her there and back... Going to try to take her to the park once a week. On foot.

With gas prices being what they are, I'm going to make an effort to walk to church and the grocery store instead of driving.

I'm also going to get into some form of cardio, either running or biking. It will be a small effort, a mile on the bike each day, or walk/running a mile.

While visiting my in-laws this weekend, I was also given an even more interesting incentive ... my MIL (who is concerned about my weight and fitness -- doesn't want me to croak on my daughter) broke down the time I have for summer vacation in terms of how much weight I could healthily lose, and told me if I could drop a bunch of weight this summer, she'd replace my wardrobe when school started back up in the fall.

I walked a mile-and-a-half today, jogging three of the blocks.

Also had the little one up to the pool all afternoon yesterday and today.

I might actually pull this off.

Good luck Mastro!

For me, pulled my left quad last night at softball. Stopped quick to reverse direction, planting my left heel and twinge. Iced it last night and going to take it easy the rest of the week. Never pulled a leg muscle before, that sucked.

Ouch! Heal fast, Rev.

Welcome & good luck, Maestro!

I myself continue to be a complete spud. I spent yesterday at the beach, where the totality of my exercise was carrying the beach chair & umbrella to the spot where I sat for hours. Then we went out for Chinese food.

I really need to get back to the gym. Sigh. The only good news is that I haven't put on any weight ... but I can feel all that muscle I worked so hard to gain turning to fat. It's just SO HOT I can't stand the thought of doing anything to make me sweat even more! :(

If the pics I've seen of you are recent, then you look just fine and don't have much to worry about regarding your fitness.

I am pleased to report that I've made it a mile-and-a-half on foot or on stationary bike every day this week. I walked my daughter to daycare, and I've walked to work (the one day I taught at our elementary school), and I've walked to church this week. I feel a bit better already. I just hope I stick with it and don't get lazy. It's really easy to think, "I'll just drive my daughter to daycare just this once," and suddenly it's back to bad habits.

Aw, shucks. Thanks. Although I have to say, it's definitely possible to be thin and still be woefully out of shape. I went to the gym for the first time in weeks a couple of days ago, and after only an abbreviated workout with nowhere near the weights I usually use, I'm still so sore today I can barely move.

The good news is that my shoulder doesn't hurt anymore - YAY! Just every muscle in my body.

Congrats, Maestro! Keep it up! :D

Hello!

I need to lose weight really fast. I don't want to workout, I don't want muscles just to slim down. Any good advice?

Are you serious? You're not going to lose weight in a healthy way by simply cutting calories. In order to lose weight and to keep the weight off you must implement a good exercise routine along with eating healthier and consuming less calories.

Uhm, English isn't my first language so I guess I can come off as a bit unclear. I want to do workouts such as running or cycling, but not weight lifting or stuff like that. I want to really slim down as opposed to bulk up.

I recently joined an interdepartmental softball team. We had our third and fourth games today (a double-header) and won both. :)

I improved my batting average for the "season" to .308, too. :)

If you consume fewer calories than you use, then you will slim down no matter what you're doing. Running and lifting weights will help.
