Diet & Fitness Support Thread

I am hoping that someone can answer my question. I haven't read this whole thread so I apologise if it has already been mentioned.

I have lost about 18 kilos (38 pounds). I have gone from being 82 kilos (179lbs) to being 64 kilos (141lbs).

However I am feeling so cold this winter despite this winter being no worse than previous winters. I realise this is probably because of my weight loss but I was wondering if I will eventually adapt and get more use to the cold?

I've been dieting for the past three weeks and have shed almost 3.5 lbs! I'm trying to loose the weight SLOWLY so I won't put it back on, plus ten more. :) So far, so good. I'm just watching my calories and pick and eat. I only drink ONE soda a day, but limit it to about three forths of the bottle just for a sugar lift. Plus I walked on the treadmill really fast for about 50min yesterday so so far, so good. My pants feel looser and I feel a hell of a lot better! Three pounds is better than nothing. At first, I didnt loose anything..but after a couple of weeks, I started to loose. :) I know my face looks a little smaller and so does my legs, behind, and stomach. :)

Well I'm still working out and maintaining the weight loss...but I have a reocurring 10 pounds! Grrr...

Gave up chocholate...lets see if that helps!

Workouts over the past week: 1 strength class with free weights, 2 step and 3 spin classes.

We had a new instructor in one of the step classes. It was her first time ever leading a group, and the poor girl totally forgot the choreography halfway through. It was enough for me though :o . I have no idea how they usually manage to remember it all.

I missed my regular work out after work on Friday because my gym buddy was poorly, but I managed to get back to the gym on Saturday morning. I did an hour on the cross trainer - 30 mins fat burn and 35 mins cardio. I dunno, but it wasn't the best work out I've ever had. Maybe I'm just used to being at the gym after work when I'm knackered from the day.

Sometimes I find working out really frustrating. I try really hard and really put my back into it to get the best from my workout but on the way home I sometimes feel that I haven't achieved what I wanted to. Does anyone else get this odd sense of frustration, despite the fact that when you are in the middle of the workout you can't do more?

YES! I get frustrated too when I workout. But it's been very beneficial to my body. :) So far I've lost 5.6 pounds! :D I've only been doing this though for about a month(don't intend to loose the weight fast) and so far, so good. :) I'm either staying the same now, or losing so that's really good for me. :) I also don't drink much soda(only an occasional coke if my blood sugar gets low) and drink lots of water. :) So I know how you feel..I feel like I'm busting my ass to get in shape but I'm not looking slimmer or anything. I do FEEL slimmer though! :) I'm not so bloated. :)

I'm down another 15 lbs since I last posted in this thread, for a total of 35 lbs since I started in late October. Since my last post, I added quite a bit of walking to my weekly routine. My longest walks now are about 6 miles, but it's getting to the point where adding more distance will make the time commitment a bit prohibitive. I should probably throw in some jogging, but I think I might be a bit heavy yet to do that without beating the crap out of my knees. If I drop another 40, I'll be the same weight I was in high-school.

Well, I'm back to a regular gym routine and I've got the sore muscles to prove it ...

I'm up to workout #3 in the "New Rules of Lifting for Women" book, which is challenging to say the least. My last workout included 3 sets of each of the following:

Barbell Romanian Deadlift/Bent-Over row
Partial single-leg squats
Wide grip lat pulldown
Back extension
Some funky incline-bench thing called YTWL (from what your arms w/dumbbells are doing)
Swiss-ball crunches
Hip flexion (side crunch on mat)
Prone jackknife on Swiss ball
Prone cobra on mat

I'm not doing a lot of weight on any of them, but MAN, can I feel it!

Still not running because of a sore achilles tendon ... I might have to go see a doctor soon if it doesn't clear up.

I walked 8.5 miles today... Farthest ever. I think I'm going to have to work in some more intense cardio though. It just takes to long to walk that much...

That's exactly why I took up running, man! I don't have that many hours in my day.

Good old holidays, never good for the weight loss is it? Especially out in the middle of no where where I cant go DO anything to help, plus the food and all those other fun things. Boo

Another week, another round. Did one spinning class, one step, one core strength and one Bosu Interval, which I love. So fun jumping around.

I tried running maybe about 50 yards or so on one of my walks a couple weeks ago. My form must be off, 'cuz it beat the living shit out of my knees.

While running is certainly effective for cardio-pulmonary health, and body fat loss... unless you have perfect posture, perfect gait, and perfectly supportive shoes, running is one of the worst things you can do to your body.

^ Yeah, that's why I cant run. Kills my ankles and knees everytime. Mind you I havent tried running in years...well, like three years but still. Ive been tempted to try it again but I doubt I'll do it for a long period of time. Stairs and walking shall remain my main source of physical activity

So I got a little busy and stopped lifting again for 2 months. I didn't diet and still went from 280 to 245 pounds. This is mainly because I am active at work, and because I also lost muscle mass. I started lifting again the other day and I do prefer being at a lwoer weight in general. If I had stuck to my mass building program I would have lost the weight slower while still lifting. Ah the best laid plans of mice and men...

RAMA

I did a yoga/ core conditioning session designed for runners who are participating in a marathon (uh, not me!). I didn't realize how highly runners think of yoga.

:D
